Santas warned 'ho ho ho' offensive to women
Quote:
SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.
"Leave Santa alone."
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

What a bunch of politically correct bullshit. Are they also going to go after Disney's Pirates of the Carribean ride for the "Yo Ho Ho" song? What a load.

Look at what a marvelous world we have today, we've advanced soo far that a children's holiday figure can sexualy hurrass a woman by just being himself.

Oh oh - and next, they're probably going to ban little kids from sitting on Santa's lap because it encourages p e d o p h i l e s or something.
My, Santa has been VERY naughty...

Funny thing about that article is, there is an adult cartoon show here in the states called Robot Chicken.
It's claymation sketch comedy with very adult under and overtones.
In one of the sketches, Santa pulls up in his reigndeer driven sleigh to a ghetto street corner with 3 hookers standing on it. He turns to the camera and say, "ho ho ho!"

Robot Chicken is great. But that is to be expected of a Seth Green creation.

While we're on the subject, there was a sketch of a Salvation Army Santa ringing a bell on the street while shouting "Bring out your dead!"
Absolutely golden.

This is almost as ludicrous as many retail counters being forced to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"

Hmmm...I feel like saying something gratuitously vulgar.
"Happy Holidays, you fucks."

But nobody told Santa that milk and cookies each have separate offensive connotations as well!

Do you think it'd explode their minds if one deliberately insulted someone? I feel like they've forgotten that concept entirely.

Yeah, I heard a joke on those lines somewhere. Something like "What does Santa say when he sees your mother, your sister and your girlfriend? -Ho, ho, ho!!"
This is just Stupid.
I just have trouble believing this piece of news is for real >_<

Anyone seen Something Positive's Ho3 shirt? Perhaps there's been a bulk order of them somewhere in Australia.

If everyone had to avoid slang terms from other countries when speaking, it would suddenly become extremely difficult to speak.
