Top Ten Gothic Movies Thread

I got in a conversation about Gothic movies and noticed I had trouble thinking of what should count without getting too deep into the Vampire or Horror genres. What do you think the top ten (or any ten) actually Gothic movies are? Here is my stab at it, which I'm sure people will probably disagree with.

In no order
  • Harold and Maude
  • Nosferatu
  • Cabinet of Doctor Caligari
  • Doom Generation
  • Dogs in Space
  • Sweeney Todd
  • Blade Runner
  • Nightmare Before Christmas

I can't think of any more right now.

This should really go into the section specifically marked for TV and movies.

Hmm. . . I don't think I can think of 10, but here's my go at it:

The Crow
Nightmare Before Christmas
The Labyrinth (DO NOT DISAGREE WITH ME)
Dracula

Uh. Damn. I really don't know any, and I really only like one of the movies I listed (the others are mediocre).

A thread about the same topic on RottenTomatoes lists some, but I don't feel like hunting them all down since they're spread throughout the discussion: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/s...d.php?t=430830

Having never heard of Dogs in Space before, I was wondering how that could also be considered goth. Then, I IMDBed it, and felt some relief. I was expecting something along the lines of Space Buddies, and that worried me.

But then again, Nightmare Before Christmas has been mentioned, so why not.

Sleepy Hollow.

I want to say the Addams Family movies but I'm not sure. They keep the humor so in character that you kind of have to be goth to really appreciate it. But, even then, it's still so campy it's not really influential enough to make the top 10.

Why is everyone mentioning The Crow anyway?

Aside from that, I agree with Kontan.
You could probably put Mad Max/Doomsday too.
All the bad guys looks pretty damn Deathrock.
And Siouxsie's on the soundtrack fro Doomsday.

Didn't The Crow have The Cure on the soundtrack?

Yes, The Cure was on The Crow soundtrack. So was My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Actually, wait, I may be getting that confused with Lost Boys. My head hurts and I'm too lazy to google it.

NO ONE MENTIONED GYPSY 83?!

Spellbound by Siouxsie & The Banshees is on STRAIGHT after Adam & The Ants in the scene where Sol is doing his stage show crap.

Regardless of the soundtrack, The Crow SUCKED.
