In memoriam

This morning I was told that one of those people I've known all my life and loved dearly has died. She was a great lady; and although we were not related she adopted me as her granddaughter and loved me just as much as I loved her. The burial is tomorrow, and I will not be able to be there because it is home in Germany and I'm stuck up here in Norway, which is horrible because I never got the chance of saying goodbye. I want to dedicate this post to her, the most generous, loving and kind lady I've ever met in my entire life. I will never forget her, and although she is gone she'll always live on in my memories.

I don't know what to say. I'm awful in sympathy. But I understand the feeling. I might have not experienced it, but I understand.
I just have to say, that was a beautiful elegy.

Sorry to hear of your loss. She must have influenced your life greatly for you to post it here in such a positive way. It actually brings back fond memories of my own grandparrents. You definately have a warm heart.
