Little Bird...
I never knew my love for animals would be so strong. In my house, there used to be about 14 birds, and now we have 5.
One of them is a love bird, and a smart one at that. When I'm gone at school, he escapes and flies around the house hoping that someone will open the door to the outside and let him free. He lives in his own little cage, and when I look at the poor little lemon-lime colored guy, I fell so much for him. He eats his little seeds and I can't help but want to cry for him. I don't want the little guy to live like this. I want to set him free, but my parents nearly attack me for it. I tell them that the little guy deserves better....*sigh*, maybe he will find some peace in death...
I wanted to get that out.

Yeah, I'm back. The reason I'm not on AIM is because after the administrators found everyone with AIM, they disabled it. So I am not on in school, but when I can be.

Okay...we just need to keep our focus on the little bird.

Why don't you get him a little lady-love?

We did, but she died. All our birds had mates, and now whenever we try to get him a new one, they always end up dying...

Oooh - so he's a cursed bird! How very goth.
I'm sure he's okay if he's properly looked after, and it sounds like you're an animal lover so I'm guessing he is. He undoubtedly suffers less from his confinement than you do. Just consider that his brain is probably smaller than a pea. That limits the amount of discontentment and existential angst he can experience.

Haha, okay. Nemesis, I don't want to kill it at all, and I will try my best to sign on, and Wise Child...well, you are very wise. I'll just keep looking after him and make sure he stays happy. Maybe he IS a cursed bird....who would have known? The gothiest pet I have is a black cat...

Hey, the gothiest pet I have is a ginger and white cat. We had a black one, but he died. He was cute though. Squashy little face and a purr like a motorbike.... *wistful*

Aw, that sucks.
I have six cats, four are black, and only one of them is fully black.
Here are their names
Zero- Biggest and oldest, black with white chest and paws
Black Mouse- Only female; black with white chest, paws, and snout. The very tip of her mouth is black
Nig (it is just a name, no offense to anyone, I did not name him)- Fully black and always claws things
Gabriel- Black with white chest, paws, and face
Nurmal- Tabby with white paws and chest. He is a favorite
Kane- Gray tabby with white paws...he is the fattest...

This shows that goths can have a loving side other then stereotyped as cold and unloving....

HA HA HA HA! I have no idea why that's so funny!
I guess it's similar to how I feel about G. W.

Lord Dagon, I had to respond because I'm a bird person too. I have five (I had six but my wee canary died recently of extreme old age <sniff>). One of my best friends is a bird behaviour specialist so I get to hear a lot about how to make birds happy.
My canary also had a string of lady-loves, who all died. We called him Typhoid Seamus, and in the end we stopped bringing him canary friends and he just played with the budgies. The vet thought he was carrying some type of lurgy that affected only canaries.
Maybe your little guy is carrying a virus, like psittacosis. Have you had his blood and poop checked by an avian vet?
I'm sorry he is breaking your poor sad vampiric heart. Don't forget that lovebirds are parrots, and therefore ridiculously intelligent and curious. It's possible the poor little bugger is just bored.
I donlt think setting him free will help because then he'll be scared and lonely and he's at risk of terrible, terrible things. He probably misses his mates and is looking for trouble to get into. I sympathise. When I'm bored and lonely I go looking for trouble too (and usually find it).
Does he have toys in his cage? Things to destroy and rip to pieces? Lots of different types of yummy food to take his mind off things? You could give him nuts in shells, hide treats in various places in his cage so he has to hunt them down. Give him fresh branches from non-toxic plants to rip to shreds.
I suppose the thing is, deep down inside we all just want to be hunters and have things to destroy ;-)
Don't give up on him. Lovebirds are treasures, like sweet little crocodiles in bird-suits. Birds may not look very gothy but they are so sensitive and empathic, they love music and constantly express themselves. They preen constantly and have wicked senses of humour. They're just like us.

That's really kind and considerate of you. I will take your advice, because I really don't like to see animals die when they deserve better.

I thought that goths were mainly stereotyped as moody and/or depressed. If anything, this tells me that the stereotype actually is goths feel very deeply. More so than most people.
Just talking about my understanding on the stereotype, not my opinion. I think it's impossible to generalize a vast amount of people so generally.

I always thought Goth was a person with a morbid weird way about them...and the depressed persons weren't really goth, just whiney angsty...

Yeah, but the stereotype does show goths as dead on the inside or the like, and, of course, depressed and suicidal. How many people in here are the exact opposite of that? Here's one: ME!

I guess it's safe to say we've strayed from the bird.

Yes..there has been. But now the bird is fine. He escapes from his cage every now and then, but he is doing very well. My cats try to play with him, but he fights back.

Hooray, I'm so glad the bird is okay!
Parrots and cats are a hilarious combination. I never know which one is more likely to win...

Yeah, I am very sorry. AIM won't work....but I sent you an e-mail telling you I won my trial. I am also a judge in a bench trial...it is awesome. I might also go to trial again with the winning plaintiff team (I was defense). By beating the first team, I proved that I could overcome the "smartest" kid in class. I am the top freshman law student, and sooner or later I get to go to trial against juniors and seniors. Those guys are impressed by me.
