Black has always been a pleasing color to me. I can't explain it, maybe it's because I have sensitive eyes. I also wear it because I am lazy and the more of one color I have, the less I have to sort my laundry before washing.

I wear black because it looks good for all occasions, it matches everything, it looks decent on me, it's traditional. I don't make an effort to wear lots of black, I just own a lot of black things, and when I go shopping, most clothing I like comes in black, it''s just easier to stick to a color you know you look ok in, makes shopping faster.

Black's easy, low maintenance, doesn't show creases as badly, goes with everything, is fairly flattering, doesn't clash with my hair, eyes or skin, and lets me into all the right clubs.

Yeah, no need to worry if that color shirt is going to look bad with my half purple hair! Less sorting for the laundry, black always looks good, it always matches, and makes me look quite pale. I noticed in the pictures taken of me on Christmas, I look very pink with red on.

I think what people wear is a reflection of their personality. It could mean we just at home in the darkness, not that we're all sodding miserable. It probably has to do with all the fathers/mothers of goth rock wearing black. Siouxsie Sioux practically started the whole bondage gear thing on her own.

Personally, i wear it because i feel very safe in it. Not to mention it also makes my eyes and skin stand out more.

My opinion? I've found that wearing black has a couple of bennies.

I've got this predatory thing going; I like hiding in shadows and watching people. It's easier in black; it "looks smart and suits the night time".

When I'm in all black I find that I'm both obvious and invisible. Because I'm wearing black - not to mention velvets and laces and formal black sparkly jewelry - expectations are different, yet they try not to notice unless they're insufferably rude. Besides, it goes with the black sunglasses, required for people-watching.

And it's slimming. :-)

i dont wear black because anyone else does ive always liked to wear black even before i identified myself as goth. partially because i used to be fat yes lol but now it reminds me of the darkness that comforts me. im one of the few people who i feel completely safe in the dark and have excelent night vision. and oh yeah i love silver jewelry to complament whether it be a necklace or spikes or the buckles on my boots simply because i like the way it shines in the moonlight

I can't claim to know why others wear black, but I wear it for a couple of reasons:

One, colorful clothes just never felt comfortable to me.

Two, black is the color of mourning. I was in a state of mourning for the loss of a loved one when I embraced the Goth style. [I'd been Goth-minded for years, but didn't realize it until that point. Go fig.]

Three, black is elegant and slimming. Well, most of the time. I -have- seen some terribly awful clothes colored black, so you have to be careful with it. Also, it has to be broken up with jewelry and accessories, or it's just boring.

Four, because it identifies with the Goth culture in mainstream society, like it or not. And heaven forbid someone mistake me for normal! XD [Seriously, they've no idea what they're in for if they dare to assume. Might as well make my outside fit the inside, ya know? ]

I like to wear black. Even before I considered myself goth, I thought black looked good on me. I suppose my style began to change, and I wore darker clothes.
It's also because I feel like I belong.
Two good feelings in one. Ha, as far as clothes are concerned, black is my best friend.
