for those of you who don't know, there's been some hype on the internet about the so called "cloverfield" project. so far the actual title is unknown, as is almost all information as to the plot and characters.
there are two trailers that i know of, this one and another one at 1-18-08.com.
thoughts?

Oh the mythic cloverfield, I saw the trailer many months ago. It better live up to it's own hype. I remember seeing somone who tried to derive the plot from all the numbers shown.

Holy cripes I just took a close look at a second long snippet from the website trailer and saw a woman's shadow expanding and mutating into something that is definately not human.

Hmm I was looking through the wikipedia and saw a reference to a japanese drink company website possibly being all about the movie, now from what I saw on the website I thought of three possibilities, one the Japanese are weirder than I thought, two what the hell kind of drug are they on, three it is a website full of hidden clues in plain sight. Like maybe the head on the guy's tummy means somthing, and wth is a carabou doing there? In the website it does mention some sort of mystical ingredient from the bottom of the sea and a series of mysterious events that lead to it being used as the drink's main ingredient. A big piece of evidence is that apparently paramount seems to own it and there is no drink by that name. I suspect a parasite plot.

Right scene though you can see if you stop right before the camera blanks out her stomach expanding to twice it's width. This creature whatever it is is contagious. Reminds me of the opening scene for Area 51 on xbox where you go into the room where they have the bodies.

That commercial looked perfectly normal to me. No. That would be scary! Um, and I believe that's a moose not a caribou.

I am ridiculously pumped for this movie. But not as much as a friend of mine (Iain, I'm looking at you!).

Guys. I know what the monster is. They have an image of it in the poster for the movie. Anyone who wants to know can read this hidden message.
a giant sea turtle
Frankly, it doesn't sound too exciting given what it is.

it looks stupid.
Seriously though, it seems to me that anything that they try and build this much hype about usually sucks.

I just saw it today. Somehow I missed all the hype and only heard about it a week or so ago... Maybe that's why I was blown away by it.
4/5 stars. The filming style might make you a bit dizzy at the start, but bloody hell I've never been so tense and very nearly actually scared during a film in my entire life.

I saw it earlier today. Despite a couple of annoying plot defects, it was really enjoyable. Cool idea, and cool monster. I liked how in the last scene, which was filmed before the first scene, you could something huge fall in water off in the distance.

It was a great movie. The fact that it was from a single perspective the whole time made it great. It kept the suspence up.
The ONLY thing besides fixing of slight plot screw-ups that would make it SO much better is if the giant monster was Cthulhu. I was hoping and praying that it would be, but wasn't.

Cthulhu would have been much more interesting. But if it was, there would have been more madness amongst the people. Alas, when I saw people walking around in shock, I did suspect The Big C... Oh well. We can only dream.
