Has anybody else here ever worked in the line of body removal?

It is a very rewarding business and easy to break in to. Usually run by Mexican families in America, you can easily walk in and apply. In the economic climate of today it is a sure fire place to find work so long as you can tolerate being called 'whiteboy' and or 'wado'.

In my time I saw many strange and wonderful things. Teenagers torn to shreds in car accidents, victims of drug abuse, fire arm homicides and suicides, stabbings and a dead old lady with one breast that died on a toilet. I also removed over a dozen pace makers, post mortem prior to cremating the bodies.

Truely one character building experience after the other; All under the critical and sardonic eye of an illegal immigrant whom hated me for being white.

So if you have experience or would like to learn more, participate in this thread through your comments and inquisitions.

Wado? I think you mean güero (pronounced like whetto or weddo)

Hmm sound's like you had some interesting experiences. To be honest even though I love gruesome things, I don't think I'd be able to stand the social stigma's of collecting bodies for a living.

Yes, weddo. That was it. Is it meant endearingly or derogatory?

Huh. I'm looking it up and apparently it is used for a Mexican with very white skin and is not commonly used for an actual white person. I was awfully polite and natural with them. So maybe they did mean it in a nice and brotherly way. :[

Oh well.

It can be either, the way you tell your story it sounds like they were insulting you. Are you sure they were Mexicans? we're generally not that bitter. Most illegal immegrant's I know are good-natured and they're usually polite to white people.

I got along with them pretty well. It was just the one guy who was my superior that was a dick. Some other guy too. Always "whiteboy this whiteboy that". I got along with them fine and didn't ever really show that it bugged me. It will remain a mystery.

And yes they were self proclaimed "Wetbacks" and "Beaners". They used the terms frequently and it made me uncomfortable because I'm not rascist at all.

We are right back where we started.

That sounds like a great job. Does it pay well?
Ah, actually never mind. I'm not strong enough to open a jam jar, let alone drag a corpse around.

It can. If you work overtime you can pull in nearly 900 dollars a week.

And they have gournies so you don't have to drag them anywhere. Unless they are morbidly obese it isn't really a problem.

Yeah I wouldn't be able to push someone on a gurney either XD I have the strength of Mr.Burns.

And I have not the stomach for it, wish I did. I don't think it would be an available job here anyway since either the hospital will pick them up (like when my grandfather died, Mom called the clinic and they brought him in) or the funeral home will do it too, and most of those here are small enough, chances are the guy picking the body up owns the funeral home.

Despite my name (which was a pun on corpses) I have no real desire to work around the dead; it doesn't really float my boat.

Can you define how they were all character building, besides building the strength of your stomach?

I was considering a career as a mortician, but then I saw the salary.

Six Feet Under convinced me that career was no fun. Plus I hate funerals.

Hm, I wanted to be a mortician. I still do actually, but the schooling costs quite a bit of money that I do not have.
