Does anyone remember the days when 'hip hop' was called rap?
Those were the days. The happy carefree days of trying to figure out if Grandmaster Flash was singing about naughty drugs or just white lies.
Which, in turn, reminds me of White Town.

Your Woman; that was a song. God, it brings me right back. Happy days if you ignore the guff that went on around it.

Grandmaster Flash. And Coolio! he was the man. And Will Smith, the Family-Friendly Rapper. Fresh Prince of Bel Air was alright. Nice for a bit of nostalgia these days. Get a sing-song going. Helps if you have chemicals in your body.
Also, interesting fact #34: Uncle Phil, from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, did the voice of Shredder in the Teenage Mutant Hero* Turtles.

I'm bored and this is a nice thread.

*'Ninja' if you're American. The word 'Ninja' causes British kids to go on killing sprees.

Killing sprees? Care to elaborate more? That remark was interesting.

Oh, I was just being flippant. Over here, we had the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles(Theme song changed as well) while everywhere else had Ninja ones. The only possible reason that I can come up with is that 'Ninja' is such a violent word that it causes kids to turn into psychotic killing machines, Hell-bent on taking down society.

But only the British ones. The rest of the world seems to be fine with 'Ninja'.

Oh... I remember catching the tail end of there being a bit of a hoo-haa about it, but never got to find out exactly what it was. What was it all about?

I was just being all mopey and 'the guff' was referring to the good old school days of mine.

There was a vague thing where everyone thought the guy behind White Town was gay or transsexual as the song was written from a female perspective or some other stupid reason.
He still spends his time telling people that he is neither.

Maybe that was the hoo-haa.

Ooh, and someone(Looking at it now; it was the man himself) has uploaded the video to YouTube. Excellent

Will now go and watch video. Thanks for that!

(I wonder if it's possible to find Siouxsie and the Banshees 'Peek-a-boo' somewhere?)

Oh Hell, this is going to be like the time I saw the Stranglers' Strange Little Girl video and tried to emulate some of the makeup.

There was another song with that title about then - I heard it on the radio the other day... I wish I could remember the singer's name. He sounded a bit like David Sylvian...

Hey, any piccies of the make-up sessions?????

Unfortunately it was all before my time(Which is no excuse) so I don't know who you're talking about. Shame.

And the makeup was a total failure as it was, simply, too much for one face.
So I had to adapt it.
Still, here's the attempt:
Right!
Left!
Centre!

Next time, I think I might use stencils(Well. Somewhat triangular bits cut out of some paper or something) for consistency.
Or something like that.

Oh aren't you cute! I think the make-up looks rather good. Pretty much what I remember from that era... ('Cause I'm such an old thing haha!). Keep us posted?

The problem was that I didn't want to overdo it. I had planned on having it all on one side(Perhaps, if it didn't look terrible, trying it all on both sides) but it but it looked too much.
I just had to know when to stop and say "It worked on that girl in the video. It's not going to work on me".

That night, I learnt a valuable lesson about how, if makeup is involved, you should add half an hour to the time you think it'll take you to get ready.
I only just had enough time to get into the corset without it being uncomfortable.

I shall, of course, keep you aware of my makeup mishaps.
And thanks...<Blushes><Runs away>
