I find it's not particularly about a certain brand but rather the color range.
My favorite brands are Urban Decay and Bare Escentuals + Bare Minerals. BE is more known for a natural look, but they have put out some great colors! Since the powders are just pigments and minerals they are quite versatile.

Manic panic makes makeup and they tend to gear their shit towards gothy types. I suggest them only because their products are vegan and they have fancy packaging. Most of my makeup i get off etsy from homemade sellers. I use bare minerals too but if youre used to liquid maybe i wouldnt go that route. I hated it when i first bought it.
