I believe in 'fate' because i believe that things happen for a reason and when they happen you have a choice in what the end result will be. I don't believe that your life is set out i believe you always have a CHOICE well yhats what i think.

I believe in Fate and in Destiny. But i dont think mankind is doomed to follow the preset rules of some timeline.

I believe in such things as 'soulmates'.But I believe that the future is an ever winding path.We can always choose to go down the left or right fork in the road.

We can always argue that we don't know for sure whether or not 'fate' exists. We can't very well turn back time and choose another path if the one we've gone down turns bleak. We can't say for sure we're not being lead down a certain path, either.

To me choice or the illusion thereof is of the utmost importance.I'd like to think that I can choose and therefore control what goes on in my life. That I have some sort of power over the events that go on in my days.

I believe in fate as a sum-total of all previous events, the effect of all previous causes. Fate is a statistical probability influenced by man's daily choices -- but he can always choose to fight aganst fate.

For instance, If I murder someone, it becomes quite likely that I'll be arrested and thrown in jail. But I can fight against that fate by eluding capture, or influence that fate to begin with by planning the murder in such a way to make it impossible to link to me.

To me, fate is the law of causality.

But fate as three old crones sitting around and weaving an inescapable net, or as a future set in stone that will happen no matter what -- no, I don't believe in that.

fate

I believe that everyone has a destiny, but it changes with our actions. So, I believe, overall, that we DO control our fate.

I don't believe in fate. I think our actions and the actions of the people around us construct our lifes, not anything who is already 'written'.

I sort of believe in fate, as although we at least have the illusion of choice, I believe there is a general 'direction' we are heading in, with certain events happening in some form or another (asurai's desciption is pretty darn good too )

Yes, and no.

Having your house flattened by a sudden tornado = fate.

Losing your job because the company downsizes, does not = fate. (ie; someone made a choice somewhere and that choice effected your life)

I'm a firm believer in the "stone in the still pond" theory of cause and effect. Every choice you make will effect someone. It might be just you, or it might be a million people. Like dropping a stone in a still pond, you're going to make waves, no matter what. How many waves, and how far they go, will depend on the size of the stone.

I believe that fate and destiny lead us to a choice but that choice is ours to make

I believe in Fate in that all the choices we make in life end up deteming ou Fate. I don't believe that everything we do is pre-determined! We have free will to choose what we do in life. It is those choces that we make and sometimes others make that determine the corse of our life.

For instance I was in a flirty mood on April 9th of this year, and decided to go to my good friends blog that I had not looked at in months! What he had posted on that particular day was all about Kissing!! His post turned me on, so I made a comment in his blog saying something like "My lips tingle at the thought of being kissed by you!" He e-mailed me and then we started talking on Instant messager. As it turns out, we both had liked each other for a long time, since November 2004, and neither of us said anything!

We both made choices that day. I chose to go look at his blog and then to post the comment that I did. He chose to Blog about Kissing on that day. Then he chose to e-mail me asking if we could talk on messenger.

Those choices we made that day have led to us having an online courtship and becoming very very close. If we are not In Love yet we are the closest thing to it without meeting yet!

I hope to be able to go visit him in August of this year. So we determined our own Fate by the choices we made! Fate didn't choose for us what would happen, but we made it happen by our choices!

We both are hoping that it will lead to marriage!

I made the chose to look on the internet for sites regarding Online Courtship! I found one that is really good and I saw a link to an E-book called 1000 Questions for Couples! That book has many many questions that most couples never ask before they get engaged or even married! Sometimes they don't come up until later in the marrage and then it is too late to talk about it because one of the partners has been keeping something from the other this whole time. It causes divorce!

Well I got the E-book and we are now sending each other a list of 7 questions a day with our answers to them in e-mail! We are asking these questions to make sure we are right for each other!

If I hadn't made that choice to go seaching for Online Courtship sites I would not have found that book and we might not have asked each other the questions that really need to be asked before it would be too late!!

Anyway these are just some examples in my life recently that shows that it is our choices not Fate itself that determines our Fate!!

If anyone is interested in taking a look at the site about Online Courtship or the E-book 1000 Questions for Couples PM me and let me know. The book is only sold in E-book form not in bookstores! There are lots of questions for engaged Couples and married couples too! So it is good also for married or engaged Couples. I HIGHLY recomend this E-book!
With the purchas you also get a bonus E-book called 101 Romantic Ideas!
It also is a very great book!! There are many more good E-books written by the same author. We may get some more later on in our relationship,
after we have met and still want to be together!

Ok that is just my opinioon on the subject!

i do not believe in fate. I don't think everything could have been planned before hand. i think people are "doomed" to make certain choises and mistakes because of something else that had happened, but no way because it had ALL already been planned. Sure, everything happenes for a reason, but it is simply a result or contr-effect (not always a logical one but more "mystical") of something that had happened before. I believe that people can repeat the same mistakes that someone had made generations before and i sometimes even believe that everything goes around in a circle. But this circle can be broken, and is broken all the time, only for another one to be made. But i do not believe in fate. No way. Then there would be no point in worrying about making choices or mistakes, because then it would turn out that you aren't even responsible for it but are just a robot fulfilling that that was programmed into you. Then there would be no "God" that could decide whether you have been good or bad because you havn't chosen your life way, but your FATE had.
I think that things happen for a reason, either to tell us something or as a concequence. We are not so safe...we don't have a ready path made for us named fate, that's what i think. We very much have to cut that fuckin way throught the thorny forest ourselves and only sometimes get hint or help...or the opposite.

I believe fate needs to be defined before this discussion goes anywhere relevant to life. Is fate having something happen no matter what you choose? Then, given my inabillity to change the orbit of Neptune, fate exists. This only has personal relevance if astrology figures Neptune's orbit somehow affects me... but then we're not tlaking about fate, we're talking about astrological conceptions of fate.

That's all. It's such a broad question that I have no opinion on the question as formulated. I do believe strongly in free will, however, so as for fate's place in that - well, either I can do something about events or not. If I can, great, let's get to it, if not, ah fuck, pass the cloves and coffee.

I believe in fate to a certain extent.

I think that people have a predisposition towards experiencing certain major events in life, things like getting murdered, winning the lottery, becoming president (how else could someone like George Bush do it?), you get the idea. However, I don't believe that every single thing a person does, says, eats, or fucks is scripted. After all, if somebody jumps in front of a speeding car, they will be crushed, no matter what destiny might have planned for them.

In general, I'd say that we all have free will, but fate pushes each of us in a certain directions.
