Would you fight for your country in a conflict you disagreed with?
Soldiers don't generally get to make policy, yet no nation state can function without soldiers. Would you be willing to fight for your country in a conflict you disagreed with?

Depends on the situation. If,by some strange twist of fate, I joined the military then I would need a pretty compelling objection to go for a dishonorable discharge instead of fighting, I would have serious moral qualms using the system to my advantage (free medical, free travel, free housing, GI bill, etc.) without fulfilling my side of the deal. On the other hand if there was a draft and I was called up then I would be a conscientious objector and would follow every legal avenue of avoiding service but ultimately I would rather be thrown in prison than fighting a war that I didn't believe in (though I really can't say what I would do because I have never had to make that decision and sometimes a person's actions can be surprising, even to themself).

Funny, we actually encountered this question in my History of Western Political Though class.
No, I would not fight for my country if I disagreed with the conflict.
Matter of fact, I wouldn't fight for my country, period.

I doubt I would fight for my country. The idea of killing repulses me, to the point where I will stand for 20 minutes staring at an injured pigeon that is CLEARLY GOING TO DIE, unable to do anything but not wanting to leave it.
That and I hate everything about the military. I don't take well to such rigid chains of command, and uniforms and drill make me cry (I was in air cadets for a year), and wool socks make me scratch my skin off.

I see it backwards:
No, I would not fight for my country if I disagreed with the conflict.
Matter of fact, I wouldn't fight for anything I disagree with, period.

I'll say no.
I would not fight for my country if I disagreed.
I would not fight if it's not worth the effort.

Yes. If I joined the military, and then such a conflict began, well, I joined, so I have a duty to do. I tried joining the Army in '99. I didn't get in because of a knee injury, but if I had, my time in the Army would have overlapped Iraq. So if I had been deployed to Iraq, I would've gone, because by joining I would have agreed to go where they send me.
Now, if the Iraq situation had already begun, I wouldn't have even tried joining.

I wouldn't fight for my country even if I agreed with the conflict in question. I oppose all government funded militias.

Depends on the movement.
Sometimes, fighting for your country means NOT donning the uniform and doing what you can to improve the place and land you live in.
Not every struggle requires you to legally murder foreign and domestic people.
As for fighting in general, NO. If another country comes here and invades, then we should defend ourselves. But for corporate interests and economic interests... nah man, nah.

They'd get to the first two hundred kilometers and then give up because it was too cold, and so not worth invading for a hunk of ice.
My answer is no, sort of.
It depends on what I'm disagreeing with. For instance, if my country (Canada) decided to piss on North Korea for some reason, I'd disagree with the Canadian government for attacking North Korea. However, I sure as hell wouldn't sit around and let a North Korean retaliation invade Canadian soil.
However, on the other hand, if Canada called me up to fight and invade Sweden for no legitimate reason, I'd tell them to politely shove several rusty, pointy, bent nails up their collective arses.
