It's not sad and scary that there are some relatives I see only at funerals, what is disturbing is how often I am seeing them as of late. At the end of a receptiion you say "We gotta get together sometime and do this and that" but you don't get to, and the following year it's their service you are attending. No shit the average since 98 is at least one a year, sometimes two. At this rate either I will be a complete orphan.
Or next.
Thanks again y'all. ^_^

first, i want to say awwwww. thanks, from the both of us.
then, i want to congratulate you on the correct placement of punctuation in the contraction "y'all". *sniffle* it makes me proud.
and, lastly, i want to say stfu before i smack you for that "or next" business. besides, that's just bad ju-ju, man.
carry on.....

Tonight I stripped all of the wallpaper out of the drawing room. I tried to be very careful, using steam, warm water, vinegar… Someone got there before me and stripped the walls under the current layer. I don’t have any usable sections of the old textiles, but there are tantalizing glimpses of colors and patterns from the 100+ years of life the house has seen. Pink, cream, violet, green, and even flashes of copper, scarlet and bronze in an array of floral and stripes. I had put in a movie to keep me company while I worked, but later turned off the sound. Instead I just listened to the creaks and sighs of this wonderful old structure hoping that she might start telling me stories.
Maybe next time.

I have got to share this!
I was looking up gadgets and ran across NEC's shocase page.
I'd seen one of the gadgets on snopes before so I knew it was authentic but the things they're developing are just...wow...
ok
I'll calm down now.

The Texas fireworks ban is okay with me, considering all the grasslands and woodlands around here are as dry as kindling and just waiting to ignite. The brush fires they're fighting now (north of Dallas, I think) are so fierce that relief firefighters have had to come in from as far away as Wisconsin.
That's nothing to mess with, expecially for celebrating the transition from one artificially constructed measurement of time to another (I'm such a romantic!) I'm all for the occasion of drinking a lot and setting new goals, but the fireworks I can live without untl the 4th of July.
Now if they could just stop the idiots from shooting their guns into the air at midnight, I'd be much happier.

Apple Cheddar Puffs
For anyone who's looking for a last-minute appetizer idea for tonight's party, or just a good snack idea, I present a very tasty recipe for Apple Cheddar Puffs:
Apple Cheddar Puffs
Ingredients
1/2 granny smith apple, corded, peeled and minced
1 cup coarsely grated sharp cheddar cheese
3t. mayo
1t. honey
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp caraway seeds
fresh ground pepper
Preparation
- Mix it all together. Put on rye toast rounds and bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Broil only one side of bread. Turn over put mixture on other side.
They're very good! Trust me.

The burn ban's ok with me as well. My kids aren't too into fireworks and I hope it'll keep the rednecks around here from getting too stupid. Lord knows we dont need the piney woods of east texas to burn to a crisp.

I've just found my favorite band name ever!
They're new to the national scene (although they've been tearing it up in New York for a while) and I like their look and sound a lot. And they call themselves
MORNINGWOOD
Here is their website: MORNINGWOOD
And here is a live performance to DL and look at. Mah, that gurl kin sing AND shake!

I've been addicted to their song "Nth Degree" for quite some time. The video is cool as well. And yes, their name is awesome.
