I just baked Banana bread, so I'm inviting myself over. But I bring food. Then I'm returning to my cave to meditate and explore spiritual alternatives.
Been missing Ape. Xo

I wish I could shave my head D: but Versus is being stationed in rural Missouri and I have a feeling I'd be ostracized really quickly.

Well indeed! In Colorado now actually, although I'm having a hard time breathing in this elevation. Nice air, but where's the rest of it?

You'll get used to it, your body just needs to adjust. Make sure and drink plenty of water, between the dry climate and the elevation it's always a good idea to stay hydrated. I hope my home state is treating you well.

It's gorgeous, everyone I've met has been really friendly, and I can't get over how cheap food is. I always knew that prices were inflated back home, but sweet Christmas! Frozen okra back home was like five dollars, it's a dollar here. Kale was like six dollars, two dollars here. My mind can barely compute, but at least I've been eating really well since I got here.
I do miss the ocean though. That might sound pretentious but I've always lived near the water and it's weird to me that I can't see it anymore.

I wish I lived near the ocean. I can understand missing it.

It may sound strange, but I've never been a big fan of the ocean. I've always preferred the desert and mountains.
That's a good question Acharis.

Not a fan of how dry it is XD Might be TMI but my nose hasn't stopped bleeding since I got here. And I guess I'm having an identity crisis because I feel strangely compelled to wear thick cable knit sweaters and build ships in bottles.
Hey Acharis! I think Facebook is partly to blame. I come back for the people I haven't added/don't have Facebook.

Oh yeah, that'd be it. It has rather taken over.
The weather here doesn't know what it's doing and I'm feeling compelled to do absolutely nothing! I'm thinking a chill weekend of shows and games.

You can get a humidifier for your bedroom, that will help with the nosebleeds. I've lived out here my whole life and winter always brings nosebleeds.
Not sure what's up with the cable knit sweaters and bottled ships... is that a reference to something?
BB, I like me some mountains too. Desert has its moments but not my first choice.

If you had ear infections as a child, be on the lookout for any that might occur. When I was stationed there in '02 I had a really bad ear infection, the first since I was eight years old.
That's understandable AD, I mostly like the desert because no mosquitoes! I swell up really bad when mosquitoes bite me.

Versus is away for training, so I have no car to go get a dehumidifer, plus we're moving in two months so I dunno if there would be a point.
The sweater is a boat thing XD Nothing is more disappointing than going on a boat and the captain doesn't have an appropriate sweater and beard, if a dude. I knit Versus a marine sweater for Christmas, actually. It's this pattern but I knit it a dark grey: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ishmael-sweater
Thanks, Bourbonboy! I have noticed more pain in my ears lately, I'll keep an eye on it.
Acharis, have you been writing lately? Read anything good?

Finished the first two books of the Kingkiller Chronicle (Patrick Rothfuss), A Mercy (Toni Morrison) and am mostly through Dust (Patricia Cornwell). I have wanted to write but despite having some ideas I'm a bit blocked. :/ Gaming a lot instead.
I really wish the Gnet fanfic would come back.

I hear you! I'm trying to blog regularly so I can keep practicing, and I have a grammar book and a writing style book to start improving my skills, so that's been nice to keep in the habit. But I have a few short story ideas that I just can't get out yet.
Looooove Morrison. Have you ever read Dorothy Parker? I just got a book of her short stories and it's kind of insane to me that she was writing about sexism, classism and even abortion in the 20s. I'm kind of shocked she doesn't get brought up in feminist literature.

BB, Ugh mosquitos. I don't think I could handle a desert dry enough to not have them.
Saya, that sweater is GORGEOUS! I'm a little ignorant of nautical traditions so thanks for cluing me in.
BTW if you're worried about ear infections, something I've noticed that helps is to keep your ears covered outside if there is a cold wind.

Ape, it's understandable, not many people can tolerate the dryness out there. One of the things I've always liked about the desert is the extremes in everything. BTW, that's good advice about the ear muffs, wish I'd thought of that before.
It's funny you mentioned the blogging Saya, I remember Anne Rice mentioned that in one of her youtube videos. Ach, you should also give this a look as well.

Oh wow, it's all happening.
I don't have any real spare time. Working school hours and flat chat at work, then race to pick up little bat. Man, it completely sucks how quickly people fall into their old habits.
My favourite silversmith made me a ring. I don't like the stuff sold off the shelf, and only wear one necklace and now I have a ring...
Anyway darlings fruity is a very different person these days, so I shall leave you to your fun.
Mwah

My sister got married this past weekend. While I'm happy for her, at the same time, there's something about this dude that I don't trust. Can't put my finger on it though.

I love you, Batty. Stay safe. *hugs and loves*
BB, I know the feel. Every time a lady friend of mine gets married I get that feel. Then when they come vent right before the divorce, I find out why. As much as it sucks, these things have to take their course. *hugs*
