Going a few posts back, but I have to say that it goes way before Metropolis...

Olympia in Der Sandmann by E.T.A. Hoffmann was an automaton...

Automata were the fashion back in the 17th century. And even before that, the ancient Greeks, Chinese, Jews and Arabs all have created "moving statues".

So I guess this is another attempt to play God - without using spare ribs!

Oh, and the inventor also discloses that Roxxxy has an "extreme moment" at the end of your encounters ... in fact, multiple "extreme moments". The more I hear the more bizarre it gets.
After watching the videos, I am starting to find the concept more amusing than creepy.

Maybe so, but this story is not about geeks getting love. It's about geeks getting sexual release ... which they also may need, but let's not define it as love.

How did everyone not burst out laughing at that conference?
Honestly, I know I'm not a guy so I don't know the pains of all that testosterone, but I could never forget that I'm fucking a doll. Plus having one of those in your house would for sure kill any chance for you to have a real girlfriend, I for one would go running if I saw one of those in a guy's closet.

Well, I think it's kinda assumed you'd have found plenty of reasons not to go over to THAT guys house before you ever got there! LOL!

Perhaps the man who married his Nintendo D.S. would appreciate Foxy Roxxxy!

Actually it's about what robot manufacturer will be first to profit from the male sex drive in this manner. Pimps have to worry about the whores ratting to the cops or skimming off the top. Robo-Pimps will have pure profit without any OSHA concerns or profit loss and will probably be able to depreciate the original investment off their taxes. Westworld, revisited.

Reminds me of the Robot Chicken sketch where a guy in a wife-beater beats up a blow-up doll.

Also reminds me of the second Ghost In The Shell movie.

Well if you've ever wondered what the heck could drive a man to resort to somthing like that, National Geographic has come along and interviewed two sex doll owners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH97GbkagBw

Oh, creepy! Dang! I was watching that and kept wanting to slap up the poor socially defeated coward. He's given up on trying to relate to a woman at all!

And the second guy!?! Well, the Lara Croft-like doll with the stockings, pistol in holster and ammo sash made me do a double-take. Aw, he's given up too.

It's bizarre, alienating and tragic all at the same time.
