A newcomer lurks in your midst, so please be nice.
Hello, hello. ;) Call me Mary. I have been putting this off for at least 4–5 years. I made this account a few months ago and vanished, but decided tonight to just get this daunting task over with. So here goes nothing!
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
None of your beeswax.
2. Where are you from?
I hail from a distant land near the western realm in the Middle of the East. But I mostly grew up "here".
3. Who is your favorite author?
I'm not one to pick favourites! I stick to my preferred genres, though (science fiction, philosophy, macabre, tragedy, or inspiring novels), and from those, I often have a favorite author for a few weeks whilst reading one book, and pick another when moving on. Two authors I hold captive for now are Oscar Wilde (The Picture of Dorian Gray) and Jostein Gaarder (Sophie's World).
4. What are your favorite films?
The Color of Paradise, for all its touching moments, and Eraserhead for the complete opposite reason.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Something Mussorgsky/Tchaikovsky-esque. Any classical from the 19th Century. Oh! Cherubini and Sibelius, too!
6. At your funeral?
A Nachtzeit (night time?) funeral with calming rain pattering on my coffin with owls hooting and crickets chirping, etc provides a better atmosphere than any 'music' could play. I want Caspar Friedrich to be there to paint the entire landscape as my parting wish . . . tehehe, if he were still alive, I mean.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Tragically and heroically. If it were any other way, I'd try my very hardest not to die yet. O_o
8. What kind of casket would you want?
A casket drilled with holes, so I could breathe.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
If it fits well, great. If it's acceptable enough to go out in, even better. Casually, I'll just stuff my feet into my black torn hiking boots and ram my hands into one of my 19th century wrist gauntlets made by some blacksmiths from the village.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
The only thing that has changed since childhood was my hair; from dirty-blonde Shirley Temple curls, to dyed dark brown wild waves. I still enjoy opera, h/biking, and writing, and still have that same ol' raggedy stuffed kitten.
11. What's your favorite band?
Jjust off the top of my head: Tristania, After Forever, Leaves Eyes, Falkenbach, T´yr, Equilibrium, Blutengel, Unter Null, Camille Saint-Saens (composer), Theater of Tragedy, Arcana, Stellamara, Trobar de Morte, Switchblade Symphony.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
University. Is: Graphic Design. Was: I.T. Will: I'm interested in minoring. Hmmm.
13. Why did you join?
I meant to join when I was 14 (lol), but I was much too lazy and felt like I'd be the only youngster here. Years later (I'm 20 now), I found that certain "Google searches" kept directing me here every now and then, so I put in enough effort to make my first post. I, I . . . I don't even know what I'm doing here. *looks around* I'm just browsing, thank you. :)
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
It's just one of the two. Take a WILD guess.

Welcome to Gothic.net, Mary.
Four years ago at 14 i don't think you would have been the only "youngster" on here. i could be wrong.

I like your pic. Pretty eyes.
And breathing is over-rated, you know. No sense in putting holes in a perfectly good coffin.
Welcome to Gnet, where you will wonder our halls of darkness in lonliness and despair (right along with everyone else).

Thank you and thank you for the kind welcomes! It's a relief to know not everyone here bites.

Why, thank you. *bats eyelashes*
But they will never compare to your eerily glowing eyes.

Make no mistake we still do bite. Some may bite a lil' bit harder than others. But that's merely a matter of preference.

Jinkies! I'm surrounded. O_O
I guess I shall soon fall victim to Fang Fever myself. Hmm, not entirely a bad thing...

I dunno about all that, Tyr is a pretty amazing band if you ask me. then again I could be biased because I like a lot of folk and symphonic metal.

Thanks, guys! Looking back, I partially agree with Jack.
(But if anything is terrible, it's my list, not my taste. heh heh.)

This might be biased of me as well, but I don't think your statement was at all biased. People tend to be critical about the musical genres they appreciate the most. If a group sucks, the avid listeners will be the first to point that out.

Don't take my advice. I mostly listen to soundtracks ("The Rite," for example) and stuff like Midnight Syndicate.

Heh, i've only been told a few times my music tastes "suck" here at Gnet. Of course when you admit to listening to traditional country music and zydeco and not have one single fuck to give about it...i guess people just begin assuming that it's a given.

You're very brave, sir, to admit to a thing like that, a true inspiration.
Do you have concrete deer in your front yard, or do you shoot at the ones over at your neighbor's?

Concrete deer doesn't taste near as good as real dear. No matter how long you try to boil that shit. Still tastes like dirt.
i do however have a small block 350 sitting in my yard....yes its only the block. And no it isn't in working condition. It's just there. True sign of a redneck.

I did resist asking how many cars on your property didn't run, but I will ask "how many dogs are under your porch?"

Hmmm ... think you're a redneck, eh? A test is in order.
Do you think the stock market is surrounded by a fence?
Do you think "loading the dishwasher" means getting your girlfriend/wife drunk?
Did your stereo speakers previously belong to the drive-in theater?
Was your school fight song "Dueling Banjos"?
Do you think "subdivision" is part of a math problem?
Have you ever had a custody fight over a hunting dog?
Do you think it would be a good idea to take a fishing pole to Sea World?
Have you ever used lard in bed?
If you answered yes to any of these questions ... well, you know. Heck, if the word "lard" is even a part of your normal vocabulary, it probably qualifies.
