I hate my computer class, so much stupid shit to wade through!!!!!!!!!!

I finally finished my assignment, at least I had good music to jam to:

Agent Orange: Living In Darkness
The Cramps: Gravest Hits / Psychedelic Jungle
Excessive Force: Blitzkrieg Single on CD

I'm very happy about finding th last one yesterday, original Wax Trax pressing from 93, good stuff!

Can you develop a crush on someone you never spoke to?

After watching the TWiT live netcast of Apple's iPad launch announcement, I think I want one.

Dang! The iPad does not multitask, and you have to buy adapters from Apple to plug anything into it ... even a usb device! Still, the price is fairly attractive ... hmmmmmm.

Who came up with that name? iPad sounds like Apple is branching off into feminine hygiene products. I though the whole point of iCrap was so that you could feel cool and smug owning it.

Yep, some of the early blogs are warning everyone to brace for a rash of pad jokes. Apple is a little hung up on the i-label names.

The rumored Microsoft counterpart is said to be named "Courier". I defitely like that better. But nobody is going to choose what device they buy because of the name.

Name isn't the issue. Apple branding is all about making someone feel cool and superior (which is why so many people are willing to part with serious cash for Apple products when, in most cases, other brands have better products for much lower prices) and the name iPad really doesn't fit that image. If the Courier and iPad are about the same price I can't imagine that name would be a deal breaker but when people are paying through the nose for a name then it damn well better be a good name.

Yeah, but you forget about the cult of Apple. Masses of people want the thing because it was made by Steve Jobs and Co., regardless of what it's called. And I have to admit, I think I'd look pretty freaking cool holding one of those things in my hands, surfing the web or watching a movie wherever I please, regardless of the name. It's a dumb name, but it won't dilute the cool factor one bit.

Also, $499.oo for the power and capacities of this device is hardly paying through the nose. Unlike other Apple product launches, this one is actually coming to market at a very reasonable price.

We'll just be putting up with 6 months of lame jokes from the pundits.

The private tracker where I torrent all my live music recently listed this gem of a bootleg as available for download: FOGHAT, Hard Hat Cafe Parking Lot, Toledo, Ohio 6-17-2001, Master recording.

No offense to all the hardcore Foghat fans who aren't yet in nursing homes but really, WTF? Are there really Foghat collectors out there searching for lossless copies of their reunion gig played in a parking lot in Ohio? Also, let's remember that bootlegging live concerts is illegal....so are there really people out there who risk arrest and confiscation of their expensive digital recorders for the chance to capture Foghat live?

It's so mind-numbingly pitiful that I can't even make a joke about it.

You forget the people who make up the majority of the Cult of Apple, older teens and young adults who are obsessed with creating a perfect image. They may ignore, or be completely ignorant of, pundits but I wouldn't be surprised if the facebook groups and twits mocking the iPad make a significant difference.

On a completely separate note: I can't seem to think properly tonight. Everything I say comes out as a mess, everything I type I have to retype, and I keep having to have any questions repeated to me. Perhaps I just need some sleep since I got up at 6:30 after only going to bed at 1:00ish and didn't get a whole lot the previous nights.

So really what I'm saying is that if my posts seem a bit off, that is just because my mind is a bit off, so please forgive me.

The Nintendo Wii outsells the Xbox and the Playstation very significantly, a name that some people can be childish about isn't going to hurt a franchise.

I think Apple just got a lot of brand loyalty right now on account of Microsoft losing out with Vista and just sucking in general, Apple right now just has a good name for quality. I don't have any Apple products but if I could afford a Mac or iPhone I'd be interested.

This makes me miss my laptop, I miss Ubuntu.
