I met my very first real-life vampire hunter today!
It was one of those situations, two people are about to cross paths ending in a collision. So I stopped up to let this guy pass. He stops as well(perhaps to check if I could cross his path) and lets me pass. Now, this man was VERY Christian-looking. Crosses, ikons and pictures of saints around his neck and a walking cane with Jesus in the shape of a cross and something I think might have been rosary beads.
Then, he stops me and asks "You are not afraid of this?" (here he points to the cross on his cane as he did not speak Danish very well - perhaps from Transylvania?) I asnwered no.
"And you like the sun?" to which I answered yes - I was wearing my daylight ring after all.
After this, he simply walked away. So I managed to avoid the stake this time, but I should be more careful!

I finished watching Legend. What I got from it was that The Lord Of Darkness is a Nice Guy™, which I would kinda suspect Satan to be. Its one of those movies that's gorgeous, but I had a hard time keeping track of things. What happened to Jack's sword? Why didn't he get pants? What's the point of getting armour if you're just going to run around with no pants? Why doesn't LOD hit him in the legs? Why when Satan backhands Lili in the face that somehow puts her under a spell?

I was sick and tired of Illustrator's Gradient Mesh Tool acting up, so I googled "Ass with wings" and found this...

Bwahahaha! That's too funny Timeless.
I can't believe I just spent almost six hours talking to someone I barely know on the phone. But it was a fun filled conversation and looking forward to calling her again tomorrow evening.

I know that feeling, BB.. the first conversation I had with Ulf (in text) went for over 17 hours. When we talked on Skype for the first time it was over 8 hours.
We often talk for numbers of hours at a time, and it never feels like enough.
Do you like her? Or do you *like* like her?

At the moment we just like each other, since both of us have been through a lot in our previous relationships. While we both don't want a serious relationship off the bat, we're just going to start as friends and see how it goes.

Don't feel bad - grammar is too mainstream anyway.

What is this "sex" you mention? I appear to have forgotten.

I just realized that I have more money to my name than what I owe in student loans. Basically, if I was desperate, I could write a check tomorrow and eliminate my debt forever. Unfortunately, that'd make me even more poor. But I am now basically out of the woods on this fucker.

I understand it like this. There are plenty of things that people in a position of privilege ignorantly make to or about people in a marginalized group. Ignoring the fact that some one in a marginalized group has experiences that are directly related to being a part of that group can lead to a person in a position of privilege to be insensitive to those differences or out right deny them to the marginalized person's face.
The person in the position of privilege doesn't mean to be an asshole, or to bowl any one over, but it happens. Things like "color-blindess" are one of the things that allow this sort of thing to happen, but instead of creating a more open and safe environment, it fosters an atmosphere of denial, and may even lead to more strained relations because the person in the marginalized position will be subject to the denial of many real problems they have to live with every day.
It pretty much just allows people in a position of privilege to pretend that marginalized people's problems don't exist.
I hope that helps a little. *hugs*

So is there ever a position where you can say "I understand the marginalisation, and acknowledge the many real problems that they live with every day, but I value people for who they are and not what they look like?" (Ohh ape, does that even make sense?)

As part of the dominant paradigm we *can't* understand the marginalisation that a group suffers.. we can see it, we can understand it on an intellectual level, but we don't know what it's like. I don't understand what it's like to be a WoC in the same way that someone else can't understand what it's like to be queer.
I know that it feels like you'll never understand it.. but it's something that is important to keep struggling with.

Yes, of course. *hugs* Understanding privilege can help you do that better than "colorblindness" ever could.
BTW *hugs and loves* I've missed you, Batty.
