Home is where the heart is ...

Just spotted this pic in my FB news feed.
It was shared by my village page ..
Ballywalter ~ the village that keeps on giving o.O

Got me to thinking; just wondering if anyone would like to share home turf stories, anecdotes, history? Purely for shits and giggles! Not actually gonna stalk ya'll and turn up at your door smiling insanely

I live in a speck of a village on the east coast of Ireland; the grim north, not Eire. The village was originally called Whitekirk but someone in their wisdom changed it to Ballywalter ... Bally from the Irish Baile, meaning "homestead".
I affectionately call it BW .. or B Dubb

It's small, but perfectly formed. Beaches, forests, strange standing stones.
Our street signs are in both English and Gaelic Ulster Scots, even though the latter is a dying language. We enjoy 'keeping 'er lit' and are found of 'craic'.
Every summer on the night of July 11th we light a huge bonfire that was built on the rocks by the sea and huge amounts of alcohol is consumed.

Soooo, that's all folks.
If ya fancy sharing please do lol it's like travelling minus heavy luggage and the pressures of transport times .. no need to panic look for that ticket, just sit back and enjoy the ride

What is the point of my telling you where I am if you refuse to turn up at my door smiling insanely.

You Found It...?!! I've been looking for that.
How the hell did it end up there?
I must have been sleepwalking again.
Me and My Brick... Good Times.

Round here when someone says 'Keep 'er lit' they mean roughly the same,
but they aren't referring to alcohol.
And Crack means 'BAD MEDICINE'. This 'Craic' thing sounds much better.

Strange Standing Stones...Hmm.
I was intrigued, so I looked for information.
Found a couple pictures, but that's about it.
Do You know if they were part of a stone circle, or marker stones?
Find things/places like that fascinating.

I'll send for my block.

You know the thread 'What made your day' ...
Well this .. your post just officially made my day!
It's 2:58am and I'm laughing out loud

I dunno? There's a HUGE stone just randomly sitting at the back of the village shop .. I'll try and grab a pic if weather permits. Was down there earlier and nearly lost my car door in a guuuust of wind, so shall see how tomozz goes!
It's a really big random stone, sitting rather sadly and looking like it needs a big hug ... but the villagers think I'm weird enough as is, so I've resisted la hug!

In the interim ...
Cos I know that you're awaiting my pic of a huge rock with bated breath LOL
Here's a small album of hotspots that I want to hit up for some Gothic photo shoots. Kinda have to wait until Spring until I venture out on location, the weather can turn nasty and winter's a bugger for lugging camera equipment through soggy marshy ground. Besides that, 'Woman found dead in strange Victorian garb' ...
Don't want that to be my claim to fame o.O

What if you hug the stone and discover it is a gate way to Narnia ? I think you should check.
In a soggy marsh I think the head line would be "Woman in strange Victorian garb disappears with out a trace."

Ohhhh LOLS!

My 'real' name is Lucy!
I've often wandered wardrobes for Mr Tumnus
And according to YouTube I believe my location is in fact Narnia?

"Video not available in your country" :o
Where the fuck AM I ... Narnia!?

Ugh and one of my biggest gripes! Certain Ebay traders ...
'Seller doesn't post to Northern Ireland' o.O

Oh silly me! That's right, I totally forgot that I live in fucking Narnia!

Ah yes indeedy, in Engerland they have issues with crack.
Here we use craic as opposed to crack ...
Our craic is also highly addictive; we use it to help with life.
To cheer ourselves we do strange funny things, just 'for the craic'
It's akin to 'banter' and a sister act to 'shennanigans' ...
Not entirely sure if it is due to there being something in our drinking water?
Or maybe derives from the ridiculous amount of rainfall?

Either way, our craic is good!
Not deleterious but rather uplifting

I don't know if they have crack here. I don't care about drugs at all. I like comic book's, records, , roll playing games stuff like that. Cuddling is also nice.

I have been looking for a doorway to Narnia but have not found one yet.
So what is it that they will not send you to north Ireland ?

Large stone inbound!
'Scuse the iphone shots

Oh random things like crinoline or net underskirts, shizz like that.
I mean, I can and do purchase; it's just tres annoyance when you source something at a tasty price only to find that the seller posts to England, Scotland, Wales sometimes the South of Ireland too! .. But not North! o.O

Narnia I tellsk ya!

*The writer of the books C.S.Lewis often penned ideas whilst walking in the hills behind my old school. Imaginative locals like to think that those hills and forests overlooking the lough inspired 'Narnia'.

It IS lovely up there, we used to beak off school and ramble around ...
Didn't see one talking beaver tho?

La stone .. unlike other Norn Irish standing stones, don't think he's Ancient?

Scene to the right of Mister Stone. Thought the moon was pretty but iphone has captured a teeny white blip .. it WAS nicer in person!

Shitty shot of one of the beaches. Not iphones fault lol I'm just crap!

its a stone all right.
so C.S. lewis lived around there ? That explains you saying you live in Narnia.
If I look on to my shelf I have the Narnia books right there next to the Hobbit and Lord of the rings.

Oh... There it is. (-Standing Stone-)
You know, the sad thing is.. If that was around here some of these little bastard savages would have already Tagged (Spray Painted) all over it.
AND... That's why we cant have nice things!!!

It looks beautiful there.
The Photo Shot Location pics are really cool, and the fact that they are accompanied by information gives them depth, and texture. -I Like That.-

The one of Scrabo Tower is almost unreal looking. The Colors in that Sky...
I would be taking a lot of late night walks up and down Bregagh Road, The Dark Hedges are Hardcore.
And 'The Giant's Causeway', (Freaking Awesome Pic!) has been on my 'Places To Visit' list for years.
Ahh... Someday...

BUT this 'Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge' is crazy. I honestly don't think I would enjoy crossing that thing. Around the middle I'd probably just freeze up! Even the thought of catching some Atlantic Salmon, might not be enough for me to try it.
Leave it to a Fisherman to build something like that, just to get to a good spot.

YES!!!
I've always wanted to bring about the end of the world!
To be the catalyst for the apocalypse. (Mmmm, Happy Thoughts.)
We would have to do this at lunch time so all her neighbors would see.
Preferably near a church or school... I'm Down!

I'm originally from Virginia Beach and we had a street called Witchduck Rd where many witches were drowned, hung, burn, etc.

I now live in Arizona and its basically just hot here.

WOOOOOOOAAAAH!
Awww geez, poor sweet souls!
It's weird, Ireland is a crazily religious country but also still very much tied to 'the old ways' .. so as far as I know no actual punishments pertaining to Witchcraft .. but a helluva lot of cursing going on

My dad lives in Spain, I basically melt when I visit him!
There have been times when I've lazed on a beach at dusk there and thought, 'Yeah, I could get used to this'
The air is sweet there, even in the mountains (where it gets colder at night).
Down by the coast it's hot, damn hot .. no mountain breezes and fucking teeming with the holiday massive! I kinda prefer off season trips, quieter.
Still bloody hot tho o.O

When I'm in Espana 'bohemian hippy goth' is a must! Seriously zero chance of any Victorian attire! Floaty dresses and a Stevie Nicks vibe, no crinoline!
