This probably is the best opportunity in history to get a woman or African-American elected because the unique position people will be put in is either to choose more war, or have one of those two running things.

I mean, on the other side of the table you have McCain, who wants to send even more troops in and escalate the war, Guilliani, who is a real bastard with enough ex-wives and dirty laundry from his tenure as mayor to keep most republicans in his own party from ever voting for him (especially since he supports gay marriage and abortion), and a smattering of other lesser-known muppets from the republican party who at this point don't even have name recognition with most voters.

It will be interesting to see how it goes.
Everything you've said is true...I just don't know if people have it in them to elect a minority president. I think they'll just go for a white male, lie about it if asked (and they say anything), and keep wondering why we're still in Iraq. I guess I don't have enough faith in people.

When a foreign country comes to ours and tries to change our government, we're justified in killing them. But when we come to a foreign country and try to change their government, they're not justified in killing us? They're not defending their beliefs, they're just "evil terrorists". Hmm... something to think about.

I don't understand. So is the president like daddy or something? A white male vs. a black male or woman vs. man or whatever. What matters is the president not the race or gender. Please, we need to get a good president! I'm voting in the next election and I plan on winning. God, it's like a game...winner and loser. Think of the first election and how close it was, now who's on who's side? Are we supporting a war, supporting ending of our liberties- our right to our own lives, our rights to marriages and to abortions. ARE WE the USA? is HE the USA? Hand over our freedom to the man on high.

I hope they do impeach Bush. I do not like his views about anything.

Um. They're not going to. Even if they do impeach him, he won't be removed from office.

From the headlines today...

Bush admits administration leaked CIA name

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19728346/

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Thursday acknowledged publicly for the first time that someone in his administration likely leaked the name of a CIA operative, although he also said he hopes the controversy over his decision to spare prison for a former White House aide has "run its course."

"And now we're going to move on," Bush said in a White House news conference.

The president had initially said he would fire anyone in his administration found to have publicly disclosed the identity of Valerie Plame, the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson and a CIA operative. Ten days ago, Bush commuted the 30-month sentence given to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby by a federal judge in connection with the case.

http://news.**********/s/ap/bush;_yl...X9HlXwwcCs0NUE

WASHINGTON - President Bush always said he would wait to talk about the CIA leak case until after the investigation into his administration's role. On Thursday, he skipped over that step and pronounced the matter old news hardly worth discussing.

"It's run its course," he said. "Now we're going to move on."

Despite a long history of denouncing leaks, Bush declined to express any disappointment in the people who worked for him and who were involved in disclosing the name of a CIA operative. Asked about that during a wide-ranging news conference, the president gave a dodgy answer.

"It's been a tough issue for a lot of people in the White House," he said.

He didn't even acknowledge the undisputed fact that someone working for him was the source, saying only that "perhaps somebody in the administration did disclose the name of that person."

You have to love this idiot. First he says if anyone in his office is involved, they will be fired. Then he changes it to 'actually leaked information' from involved, then changed it to 'gets convicted', and when that happens, well he just commutes the sentence. During this whole ordeal the man claims he can't discuss an ongoing investigation. For the press conference after the investigation, he tells us, thats old news not worth discussing, and tells the people they should 'move on'.

He then claims the 'ordeal' was 'hard on his people'. Well, yeah. If you lie, cheat, steal, and get arrested for it, its not a good time. Unless yer doing it on behalf of the president who will commute any sentence a 12 man jury decides you should serve.

Thats probably on of the biggest slap-in-the-face moves bush has pulled out of his hat to date. To dismiss the jury and their decision, to say in no uncertain terms he thinks the jury was wrong to give a sentence, to claim 12 Americans are not competent enough to convict one of his friends, well, whats that say about the judicial system? An average person can get convicted, but, those who have ties to the president shouldn't be subjected to the same laws and justice that the American people are forced to comply with?

http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=LQwV63...elated&search=

This toon pretty much sums it up.

Well, for him it's a matter of influence. If the guilty party can influence people in his favor then to hell with whatever he said five minutes ago. Remember, the man elected Dick as his VP.

He was elected in a corrupt manner. They didn't count most of the votes and it's well known that the electoral collage is filled with oil and tobacco industry cronies.

He was elected, stop crying. We have a great economy and the national defficits decreasing, unemployments better than most countries. Despite the dot com bust and 9/11, which in other days would have spelled big disaster for the economy for years. We haven't had another attack on ameican territory since 9/11. Sure he left someone in charge of the war past their experation date, even though rumsfield did and excellent job in Afghanistan.
Because people will qoute these national debts as bad and stuff, I encourage people to research sound investments and running of corporations to see the difference between what's a dept and defficit.

I'm not a fan of bush because he didn't renegotiate horrible trade agreements clinton made and didn't promote hi technology as much as I thought he would. Also the reps congress were acting like dems. Now the dems are acting like dems (not getting anything done, remember the 100hrs bs?) and the reps are finally acting like reps. War time pres's are never really looked at as favorably, I think there was one exception.

I dislike the man for his butchering of foreign policy. I do admit that he has not completely failed as a president. He has simply made some very stupid decisions (wire tapping, cheney, etc.).

Have you forgotten that your fundamental constitutional rights are being thrown out the window thanks to the inaptly named PATRIOT ACT?

But I guess I'll stay out of this, since I'm just a euro.

First off - your economy sucks. The dollar is at the lowest point it has ever been against the Euro. Before bush took office, one Euro was worth .80 USD. Today, its the opposite. Sure, the stock market is almost at 14,000, but thats because foriegn investors are buying up American stocks because the dollar is so devalued. Thats not a good thing mate, contrary to what someone might have sold you on.

I've been eBaying like mad - getting everything at half price almost here. - I can't complain.

Where exactly did you get your information on 'debt' and 'deficit'. When bush took office, there was a multi-billion dollar surplus. He pissed that away and now there is a multi-dollar debt and deficit - neither existed before him. Claiming he somehow made them 'decrease' is ludicris. They didn't exist befor he took office. The news last week that the deficent is decreasing is not any type of good news. It's like a man digging a hole in your back yard, then offering to fill it for you. He made that debt, if he 'reduces' it, it still doesn't change the fact he totally lost the surplus.

You don't manage your own checking account do you?

If you start with $2000, end up with -$2000, then are able to swing it so you have -$1800, it still doesn't mean your doing good.

Quote:

Thats because everything they do they are blocked on party lines by the republicans. We saw this last week with the war vote. You can't tie someones hands then claim they aren't working.

Quote:

The fact you end your statement, once again a statement without any backing, with 'I think' shows your pulling this out of thin air. You really should google more before making such broad statements which you obviously are so ill informed on.

FDR, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Wilson, Lincoln - you think these are unpopular Presidents? You think they are, or were, ever looked on as unfavourable? That myth was propaganda that the right-wing started pushing right about the time people realised bush lied.

The thing is, most Americans, like yourself, never bothered to fact-check that statement. Like much of the other shite the bush admin has spewed, the American people take it in and reguritate it without ever looking in to the facts themselves.

Sternn officially rocks my socks!

As an American I am ashamed to call the Bushman my president. Do remember I can't vote, but a lying Al Gore is better than "oil puppet" buffoon. To paraphrase a famous bumper sticker "Some village in Texas is missing it's idiot." As for my earlier statement saying that Bush hadn't completely failed: We've kept n.korea from hitting us with nukes.

Well actually that's the work of the ambassadors and secretaries of state and foreign affairs.

I had to post this, as it made Irish news today (even though it was published in America yesterday)...

Disfavor for Bush Hits Rare Heights

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...=moreheadlines

President Bush is a competitive guy. But this is one contest he would rather lose. With 18 months left in office, he is in the running for most unpopular president in the history of modern polling.

The latest Washington Post-ABC News survey shows that 65 percent of Americans disapprove of Bush's job performance, matching his all-time low...

...The current president, though, has endured bad numbers longer than Nixon or his father did and longer than anyone other than Truman. His disapproval rating has topped 50 percent for more than two years. And although Truman hit 67 percent and 65 percent once each within a month-long period, Bush has hit his high three times in the past 14 months.

That means even though nixon hit 2% lower than bush, bush is the first president to have such low number consistantly. Nixon only hit rock bottom before quiting. Truman dropped lower, but bounced back in a month.

Ol' gw hit 30%, and stayed there for two years, never before done by any president.

And, with his numbers still sliding, there is a good chance he will surpass the others and have the lowest poll numbers of a president in the history of the country.

For those who like a little info graphic to reinforce the message, check this out.

http://www.pollster.com/blogs/bush_a...ew_polls_2.php

With more and more of his cronies getting cited by congress for lying, and him defending them like nothings happening, its just a matter of time before he 'breaks the record'.

And then you wonder why the average european thinks americans are obnoxious and arrogant. It's people like you who give them reason to think like that. Fortunately I know better. Only a few of them are, those with the biggest mouth and no bite.

I suppose he could say the same and tell you to go back to the trailer park, right? Stick to the debate and stop with the insults already. I understand that you have a right wing approach. There is no need to personally insult someone who disagrees.

Those numbers are bad, but, hey, there's still a good long while left 'til he leaves office. I'd say fasten your seatbelts, secure all loose items and prepare for the Downward Spiral. They could base a ride at Disney Land off these ratings!

Wait....

They already did. The Tower of Terror. Goin' doooowwwwwn!

Heheehehe. I love Sternn and AO's face offs. Sure, AO insults like a mofo, but he's a devout right winger. Doesn't make it okay to.

I actually find them interesting and I just <3 right and left propaganda.

paraphrased from Airplane: Stick your heads between your knees and kiss your asses goodbye. Their different viewpoints do make for some entertaining, if rude and lame, arguments.

There you go again with the things you know nothing about. 'Werent the french' - you ask like 'ummmm I think'. In reality, you are again, very wrong.

It shows your perceptions of the world are forged in what you pick up through bits of American pop-culture and not by researching these things.

France is the #1 tourist destination in the world. It is ranked, year after year, as the friendliest destination in Europe.

It is the most popular holiday destination in Europe for Americans as well.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...st&btnG=Search

More people worldwide visit France than do America every year.

When you make a statement about the French being rated 'worse', what exactly are they being rated on? Whatever it is, the Americans must be even worse than them since even less people visit America, and the world has such a bad view of Americans right now.

But due to the right-wing nuts blasting the French (remember the whole 'Freedom Fries' debacle), many right wing supporters now think France is bad and the French are pompous bastards, when in reality the only pompous bastards are those who attacked the French for pointing out there weren't any WMD's and that bush was lying prior to the Iraq War...

Attitudes dumbass, not tourism. Jesus, what world do you live in.. Oh yeah... sterns world of "I don't really know social america", but I feel obligated to comment on it. Apparently you also don't get sarcasm, wit, or being obnoxious... When someone uses the term like ... "I think" they're being obnoxious and putting forth info that contradicts your opinion in an asshole like manner. But then again... you think you know everything about the US.... You might not want to get into arguments or discussions like you like to do with foriegn people unless you understand the lingo....

SO go ahead and qoute all the statistics and whatnot you want to stern, like in the "WOW" post, a good argument was made to how people use statistics to twist a point of view around. <like you do constantly>
