Saturn-Film produced some risque pieces in Edwardian era Vienna, before being banned by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor. Although I can only find a few samples on youtube unfortunately, having viewed their bulk at a local museum.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOGtTcCovqU

Check out The Phantom Carriage. It's one of the best silent films I've seen. Quite an eerie film too, and great soundtrack!

I'll definitely check it out, thanks. Hopefully I can find the whole film somewhere and eventually watch it.

I just did a mini research on it, and by the looks of it, sounds like a must see.

I haven't seen Nosferatu yet, but will soon. I have it standing right next to my computer ready to go. The other ones I'll check out for sure.

Well, I've only seen some Chaplin and Clara Bow films. Thanks for the list, though. I'll be checking them out for sure.

we cannot understand ones feelings without any dialogues. then how can we watch silent movies? but i think the success of such movies lies within that how people feels about the situation.

Anything with Louise Brooks like the aforementioned Pandora's Box.

Nosferatu (1922). If you like that, Werner Herzog made a remake in 1979 starring Klaus Kinski which is also worth a look.

I just watched a really good one on TCM, The Pagan. I normally have a hard time keeping awake during silent films, but its pretty well done. And Renee Adoree is amazing.

Thanks for reminding me about Louise Brooks, HP. Also check out films with Pola Negri, Buster Keaton (the Great Stone Face), Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and my all time favorite, Theda Bara.
