Since I do believe this is the place where I can shamelessly mention and plug another site, I will do so now.
For any writers or poets out there, if you're looking for more places to post your work or gain new readers, please do take a poke around
Fictionpost.com. (We have a smiley for poking things, actually.)
True, it's small and most of us are not published yet (though a couple are and more seem to be mobilizing toward that goal everyday), but it's a very laid back place and you won't get lost in the crowd or drowned in literary snobbery like with some of the larger sites. Looking to spring your newest gore-soaked horror story on unsuspecting innocents? We have a horror and crime forum that needs your attention. Need help with grammar or spelling? We have a friendly Grammar Nazi (oxymoron!) to help teach you where to stick those tricky semicolons and apostrophes.
Plus it's free to join, we have cookies of the chocolate chip variety, and there's a whole area dedicated to word games. How can you say no when you visualize yourself munching on a cookie and playing in the "500,000 Bottles of Beer" thread? And it isn't as if you'd have to stop coming here--think of Fictionpost as a beloved mistress, but G-net is still the one you'll come home to every night. Or something like that.
And if that doesn't entice, I can always set the fire-breathing kittens on you. They can be
very persuasive. But hopefully I won't have to resort to such drastic measures. *narrows eyes*
Anyhow, that's
Fictionpost.com. Use only as directed. May cause giddiness, nausea, lightheadedness, or nosebleeds, depending on your point of view on the place.
