Random guitar thoughts......
I'm very tempted to buy the cheapest "metal" guitar I can get hold of (probably a BC Rich, just for the poser factor ^_^) and downtuning it permanantly to A or B flat standard, as I feel like experimenting with lower tunings, but want to keep my main guitar standard tuned.
Anyone here like very low tunings? My plan good?
Or I could just be less lazy and retune my current guitar...........

I find it to be a real pain. I've got two and I rarely ever down tune either one further down from Drop D. Been down in the B/C territory but I prefer Drop Db (everything down half step) or Drop D myself
Having two sounds like a good idea. That way, if you're lazy like me, you can have one permanently tuned to C/B.

Sometimes I just make up my own tunings. If I come up with a guitar part that is really difficult or near impossible to play with a standard tuning, I'll tune the strings so I can play it. Doesn't always work, but I've come up with so cool stuff from time to time doing that.

I'm going to rig up something awesome for my hardcore punk/noisecore band. You know my love of Big Black, so I'm going to take a page out of Steve Albini's book. For my bass I'm going to rig up the following: take an old school analog delay pedal, turn the delay to 0 and crank up the distortion all the way, presto, you've got a guitar/bass that sounds like a friggen meat grinder. It's the same setup Mr. Albini had on Big Black's albums. I can't wait.

Been playing off and on for the better part of ten years. Guitar and bass. Right now, aside from a few beaters in rough shape I have a 4 string fretless ibanez ergodyne and my newest baby, a MIM Fender strat. I'm going to be trying to get myself back up to speed, maybe in a few months I can share some stuff with you guys.

Get a cracked copy of Guitar Speed Trainer. It has a whole bunch in that that all guitar players should know if they wanna get all serious about it.

Start off with a 4 track recorder. Or if you cannot afford that, do what I did, record on a boombox in your basement.

Been playing guitar about three years. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Special I use for standard tuning, and a Dean Dave Mustaine flying v for the real low B and A tunings. I have a cheap bass and a Yamaha electronic drum set I mess around on too. I'm not really in a band, I do mess around with some real doomy gothic metal type shit, and record on a Boss BR-600 recorder.

A is the best tuning ever.
Use it and love it...LOL! The other guitarst in my drone induced headache metal band wont tune to A though, he'll only go to C.
C is for pussies! A is for true guitarists!!!!!!!!!!!
(that was sarcasm by the way, i'm not a dick)
I've nearly mastered 4 finger tapping...how cool am I!? (not very)
