Silly people. Everyone knows that OSX is far superior to Windows. (Like, duh)

I know it sounds stupid, but when I heard that, I felt almost contaminated on behalf of my little machine... (nothing against PCs!!). Wrap me up, call me Mabel and send me to Geeksville, but I really did.

Inevitable, though, I suppose.

What did you need to say more about?? Just asking...

Don't know if it's the end though.

Good, maybe they'll start making Final Cut Pro compatible with Windows now.

well as a mac owner it makes playing games a lot easier. since darn, most games don't make it on a mac. as for the rest, I prefer OSx, but that is personal.

As a digital artist, that really hurts.

Nothing is better than macs, and I mean NOTHING, when it comes to visual, and audible, as well as processing capabilities.

So Mac´s will turn into cheap McXP?

OMG - what will all artists, photographers etc. do now? Now everyone can buy a Mac _and_ run M$ on it?

Really scary!

Wasn't Monsters inc or Shrek or some such film processed on Macs - or did I dream that? (perfectly possible!)

I totally agree. I'm a graphic designer, myself, and use Adobe Creative Suite on a daily basis. I ran Creative Suite on a PC for a number of years before switching over to a Mac. The programs would shut themselves down for no reason, and I really disliked how they integrated themselves with my desktop. I prefer OSX and my Mac (and don't know how I managed for so long without it). I finally decided it was better to run the programs on the system they were designed for, and I haven't been disappointed.

We use ours for editing our films. In fact, that's the reason why we started buying Macs. And now we're hooked.

Yea I am sadden. I my self am a PC love only because of the games that run on Windows. Sad to say Mac has a small base on that and I just can't have that
XD

Now this idea of somewhat merging with windows Isn't all that bad but it can start the impending doom of Mac. I my self think Mac. is more reliable and what not but a companie has to do what a comp. has to do you know. All we can do now is hope that the comp. know what they are doing, all we can do now... is cross our fingers.

There is one thing we can do... and that is, type in a color that can be read against a black background. Thanks! :P

beside, they aren't merging the systems, apple has a program that will accomdate windows on a intel mac as a booteble system. it is posible to do that wihtout bootcamp, but it is not garantied not to damage a mac.

so to prevent a lot of problems they thought this up, it might actualy help convincing people to get a mac. though no one can see to where it leads.

I wonder, though... How many mac users is this going to run off? Though to be honest, there really isn't anywhere else for them to go. I just hope that someone creates something that allows programs to cease to be platform-specific (and I have no idea if this is really possible), so that the issue of operating systems becomes a non-issue.

I'm also a (Reading) member of the dutch macosx forum.

it doesn't appear that a lot of mac users are turning away because they still have the option of not running windows if they don't want to.

in the next OSX (10.5) bootcamp will be intergated but still requier a XP install disk.

Hey, everything's gotta go sometime, right.

All hail, Chaos Theory.

It really doesn't matter. Someday you're going to run Windows Jet-X on your finger. ...

Um ... well, only if you have installed the appropriate cuticle upgrades.

That's a low blow.
That's a really low blow.
First, it started with Gentoo having a GUI installer.
Then it moved onto a KDE interface for Slackware.
Now XP is running Mac?
What next?
Will Slackware start running windows by default?
Will I see Gentoo XP?

Tis a matter of busines. Mac is 4% of the market. PC's are 96%. This means macs are on the way out either way unless they find their way back into the mainstream.

Of course, the downside (or upside if yer a PC fan) is as we speak all mac-only based software HAS to be written to accomidate the new INTEL chips, so all mac-only software will be available for PC soon enough.

I myself hate macs. Always have, always will. Fuck final cut, Premier Pro 1.5 does the job and does it well. A little After Effects on top and BAM - perfect video editing package.

I collect Mac classics. I'd rather have a computer that I can actually fix without having to fork out a shitload of cash to have some guy mess around my hardrive only to find the same problem occuring again and again. I love the pure white iMac (the one that didn't have all the problems the earlier models seemed to suffer from). I wouldn't trade my macs for all of the PCs in the world.

Okay, then. I stand corrected.

I'm still going to hope that XP remains an option, and does not become a standard part of the OSX install.

Fuuny thing is, if you have checked out the new VISTA and Office 12 BETA's, the new Windows looks like MacOS. They have changed everything down to the menus, options, I mean everything. Do a search for some screen shots. Apple is running windows, and now windows is looking like macos. Tis a matter of time...
