Hey, I'm Sam. As new kid on the block, I understand that I'm supposed to give an introduction, not that I'd pass up a chance to talk about myself even if it wasn't required of me. So here's my little bio, done in the suggested format.

1. I'm a college kid, I don't have a job right now but I've worked at a bookstore and a coffeehouse (extra pretentious points!)

2. I've spent most of my life in New York, so I say thats where I'm "from." I currently live in Ct, which I find exceedingly boring

3. My favorite authors are Oscar Wilde, Haruki Murakami, William Gibson, and predictably: Neil Gaiman.

4. A few of my favorite films (in no particular order) are: Gremlins, The Lost Boys, Edward Scissorhands, Beetljuice, The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Brazil, Blade Runner, Dark City, Coppala's version of Dracula, Sleepy Hollow, The Devil's Advocate, Labyrinth, The Man Who Fell To Earth, Big Trouble in Little China, Pi, Mulholland Dr, Lost Highway, Akira, Spirited Away, and Velvet Goldmine.

5. At my wedding I want to play "Friday I'm in love" by The Cure (along with the majority of the songs on Disintegration during the slow dancing,) Lots and lots of Bowie, The "Electric Warrior" album by T. Rex, The "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" album by Neutral Milk Hotel, "I'm Gonna Be" by the proclaimers, some Dead Can Dance, "Needle in the Camel's Eye" by Brian Eno, lots of stuff by the Cocteau Twins, and appropriately, Billy Idol's "White Wedding." I know its not exactly a super gothic playlist, but as much as I love goth stuff I'd still want my wedding to be at least a little cheery - though it would be really sweet to get married in an old cathedral or an abandoned castle.

6. At my funeral I'd want to play "Bella Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus, "Rock 'N' Roll Suicide" by David Bowie, Cosmic Dancer by T. Rex, "Leslie Anne Levine" by The Decemberists, "Black Celebration" by Depeche Mode (not really but it'd be funny,) "Holland 1945" by Neutral Milk Hotel, Hurt by Nine Inch Nails (The Johnny Cash version. Its more about Death wheras Reznor's version is more about Heroin,) "Where is My Mind?" by the Pixies, "Don't Dream it, Be it" from Rocky Horror, and "No Time to Cry" by The Sisters of Mercy.

7. If I had my way I'd like my death to be epic mysterious or unusual: Dying of bloodloss in battle after defeating the bad guy, Disappearing into the Himalayas and never coming back, Dying like Buddhist priests do in folklore: Just meditating and letting go of my soul etc...

8. I'd want my casket to be made of solid Obsidian, in the traditional shape, covered in arcane symbols and pictures describing ancient rites of the Dead and depicting the journey intothe underworld or something cool like that.

9. My favorite outfit is probably tight black pinstripe pants with a black leather belt, black Mod style boots, and any kind of simple, tight, solid black shirt, preferably long sleeved. Over that goes my favorite army green H&M bomber jacket. Perfect.

10. What do I miss about being a kid? The limitless possibility you feel when you have an entire lifetime ahead of you. Experiencing the world as a mysterious and alien place, where everything is new and exciting. I do my best to still feel these things though.

11. David Bowie (He's not exactly a band though. Band-wise I guess I'd have to say Bauhaus.)

12. Highschool Education, Alternative Art Highschool education in film and creative writing, and a semester and a half of liberal arts college education. I'll probably major in English or Anthropology.

13. I joined because I wanted to find some new bands and clothes and stuff

14. I'm an XY.

Other Stuff: To be honest, I'm not exactly a real "Goth." I do wear black a lot, and I do like a lot of gothic music, literature etc, but I'm just as likely to listen to Indie or Glam Rock as I am to listen to Goth or Industrial. For every day I wear all black, there's another day I wear courduroy or jeans and a colorful printed indie fuck/ hardcore kid t-shirt. I dabble in goth. I'm semi-goth, demi-goth, quasi-goth. My soul is more grey than black. Even if I was goth I wouldn't identify myself as one (and yes, I know rejecting labels is just as stereotypical and hackneyed as using them.) Anyway, I hope everyone will accept me despite my questionable gothy-ness! Oh, and a few hours ago I posted a question HERE https://www.gothic.net/boards/showthread.php?t=4824 in the Fashion section. I was oblivious to the tradition of introducing oneself and just posted. I appologise. Please read it though and comment if you have any feedback! thanks!

Hi! *jazz hand wave*
Welcome to G.net, you seem very interesting.

It doesn't matter if one is goth or not, but their ability to type well and not use poor grammar does. You'll fit right in.
