Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Strangely enough that song has alot of happy memories for me.
Dimmu Borgir- Heavenly perverse is another song that makes me sad...

Well, MCR does suck so bad that it's depressing.
(I'm assuming you're using the incorrect emo label, so..)

I forgot to add - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: "The Ship Song". I don't know why; it's a general mood thing. It's a beautiful song.

The most depressing song for me is When it all falls apart from the veronicas, I get deadly quiet everytime I hear it (nice way to shut me up) but the song has it's own long whiney story for me I won't bother you with. Then I think Cup of coffe from garbage is a bit depressing.

"Desperate Times"- Killswitch Engage.
It's depressing and romantic at the same time. (At least I think so.)

For my fallen angel - My dying bride. Just the band name is depressing, I like them though.
Sacrifice- Lisa gerrad
I am stretched on your grave - Dead can dance ( originally King and O' Donnovan ) " For with you in the cold grave I cannot sleepwalk... " Brendan Perry seriously masters this song, His voice is perfect for it.
Sad theme for a marriage- Lacrimas Profundere.

As in the first, second or (I guess you have to call it that..) third wave?
Whatever wave, I'll post some, just in spite .
Seven from Sunny Day Real Estate's debute album "Diary" is quite depressing in the sense (Don't shoot me, this is before they went mainstream with the much more pop-like albums that followed this release). Second wave of "emo" (the Indie Rock period).
Texas Is The Reason - Back And To The Left is also a winner.
Hmm... Moss Icon from the "first wave" also got some deep/depresing songs.
Ah, definately MDB, most of the Doom-death, Funeral-doom and the artists inbetween incorporate a more gloomy sound into their music.

"Gloomy Sunday", originally written by Rezso Seress of Hungary, and performed by many artists over the years, probably most famously by Billie Holiday.
I have Sarah McLachlan's performance of it on my mp3 player. It's pretty damned depressing.

" ...Only Sleep" and " Go Away" are both VERY depressing songs by the Cruxshadows. The first is about someone who has died, and the one left behind is pretending that she is only sleeping; and the second is about someone sending her lover away because she doesn't love him anymore.
Rogue can sound very mournful when he wants to.

I agree. All the charm and class of dog excrement on the sidewalk, as is true with most Trolls.

It's pop, but I just heard Pink's "Dear Mister President". I love that little scamp- and it's a solid song, simply put but it is a perspective that some people do not see.
She should tour with teh Dixie Chicks. I'd pay to see that.

Diary of Dreams - The Valley
Diary of Dreams - The Valley
Deep down in this river
I'm sure I'd be free
I know i would shiver
and surely could not see a thing
but maybe all that matters not
I might even remember what i forgot
the reason of it
and of it all
the rise and yes for sure
also the fall
Let go of me my friend
You do not understand
This pain I'm going through
Its only because, because of you.
So dark is my light
My demons were so right to leave me here
So painful my fight
As every night when I lay down to sleep
I listen to my heart
expecting it, to stop it's beating
But every moment on wakes up the sadness in me once again
You see now how it ends
I lay it in your hands
Take care of it my friend
In case you, understand
So dark is my light
My demons were so right to leave me here
So painful my fight
As every night when I lay down to sleep
I listen to my heart
expecting it, to stop it's beating
But every moment on wakes up the sadness in me once again.
...Typed it out myself as I couldn't get any of the links in google to open for me to copy and past.
Edit: By the way is there a certain number of posts required for a user to have a signature?

One hundred years- The Cure
It starts with:
" It doesnt matter if we all die
Ambition in the back of a black car
In a high building there is so much to do
going home time
a story on the radio....
something small falls out of your mouth
and we laugh!
a prayer for something better
a prayer
for something better"

Legions by Antimatter.
Stony and grey is the whore
And long are the days in the morgue
Where God is a wall
Where God is a wall to look upon
Legions and hordes
The seas have been torn
And buildings remain where they fall
And I solemnly walk
Through legions and hordes
A dark mass of infidel
Long is the howl at the end
A cry from the tail echoing
And fools reverberate
And fools reverberate and carry on...
Legions and hordes
The seas have been torn
And buildings remain where they fall
And I solemnly walk
Through legions and hordes
What have they done to themselves?
Look what they've done to themselves.
What have they done to themselves?
Look what they've done to themselves.
If you don't learn to leave this thing alone
You'll never get to see the sun again
You won't come out on top
The seed is sown
If you don't learn to leave this thing alone
You'll never get to see the sun again
You won't come out on top
The seed is sown, the seed is sown...
----------------------------------------
Most of their songs are very depressing.

I also found this piece of work
Mr White - Antimatter
I'm supposed to talk to you
don't even know where to start
don't want to stand with the setting sun
Tell me does it really show?
I'll promise you anything
Place your hand over your heart
don't want to fool myself anymore
Think nobody else will ever know
Mr. White up all night
Hiding in my room
Mr. White so uptight
Black shapes of doom
Could never show you how I feel
Even so I didn't care
it's only that inside
I'm so tired
So tired of being all alone
Now the hours are breathing
Gone like tears in yesterday's rain
I remember voices telling me
Secrets of mind-changing reality
Mr. White up all night
Hiding in my room
Mr. White so uptight
Black shapes of doom
Mr. White up all night
Always likes to sing
Mr. White so uptight
Even knows my name

"Old Hat" by Frank the Baptist makes me feel sadly nostalgic, but at the same time hopeful for the future.
