Sketchy Male at UNH

I've been here at the UNH campus for a few months now, and there have been persistent reports of a middle aged man entering the dorms on campus and getting into girls bathrooms and waiting a few in there to see if women come out. Since there is no cell phone service in dorms here (they are dense brick buildings) no one has been able call immediately when these happenings have been going on.

It’s all very disconcerting.
Here is an example of the communications we received about this man.

October 9, 2007
Within the past week, the University Police Department received reports of a middle aged white male, wearing dark clothes, about 6' with graying hair, being inside residence halls in Area I. The man has been seen in bathrooms and in hallways. Police are actively investigating, and Residential Life is assisting. Whether you live on campus or off-campus, please follow these safety tips at all times.

Do not let anyone who you do not know into your residence hall or off campus living unit for any reason.

Call the University Police Department or your local police department (911) immediately if you suspect an intruder or stranger in your residence hall or off-campus housing facility.

Keep the door(s) to your room or apartment locked at all times.

Close all propped doors immediately and report repeat problems to hall staff.

Don't walk alone, especially at night. Walk with friends or call the University Police (862-1427) for a walking escort on campus.

If you believe you're being followed, walk toward a well-lit building or a crowd of people and call police by dialing 911 or by using the "Blue Light Emergency Phones" located throughout campus.
In the instance of the male intruding into Area I residence halls, all residents are urged to call University Police if they see anything suspicious.
