Ripping Jeans?

Well I've an old pair of black drainpipes, which I'm gonna dye soon, and rip. I was wondering does anybody have and tips or advice when it comes to customizing your own jeans with rips? (i.e. where to rip them, how to, what to use etc etc).

Thankin ya in advance X

I have a few words of advice, don't rip the back unless your going to wear stockings underneath and your mega skinny see fat peoples butt hanging out isn't a lovely sight like they may think *glares at emos with buttocks hanging out*. also you can use a razor to not cut completely through so you get that nice sort of worn look and to rip use scissers to make small incision then rip using your hands... but you may want to practice first and to use safety pins to give it that dangerouse look.

wow I actually know something useful. get bleach pens aswell to make some nice designs on your jeans... ^^

Use a cheese grater.

Burning holes also looks really good.

put something in the pocket, and then sand-paper over the outside.

And I'd suggest not doing the bleach thing.

Rather than ripping, abrade. The aforementioned cheese grater or sandpaper (the coarser, the better) should work fine. Abrasion not only looks more "natural," but also leaves nice fringy bits.

make a long slice and then mend it with heavy-duty safety pins.
