Eaten: A poem

This poem was written by my friend and co-member of Hexotericka, Chrystovarr.
Please comment.

Eaten:
------
Chrystovarr D'annan

Is it wrong to cry when defeated
when a cry for help is unheard?
When innocence dies at the teat
of a mother robbed of her word.
Is it gentle to poison the trust
of a good man in his sleep?
Questions falling down sea deep.

The deepest pain...

And why are you sitting at HIS feet,
the ONE you gave your soul?
You only watched the deed
And did nothing to prevent it
You compassion a rotting hole.

The deepest sin...

And you praise HIS NAME
(bitter sweet)
do you believe you're closer
to heaven's gate?
You were but a fish, to HIM
You swallowed the bait...
HE'll devour you whole
HE'll eat your soul...

The deepest regret...
Comes too late...

Interesting. There are connotations here I can't quite surmise; but my glancing perception of them, of itself, is sufficient to impel a state of damnable dread!

Good poem.

The verse is REALLY weird. It honestly seems more random than any actual type of verse. The stanzas are all completely different in terms of size, Rhyme scheme, and number of syllables. It goes:

Stanza #1:
A
B
C
B
D
E
E

Then you've got the Verse breaks, which don't rhyme, bt I'll call them connected so.

F

Then Stanza #2: (I'm assuming, judging by the poems structure, that the Stanzas are not unified by verse)

A
B
C
D
B

F

Then Stanza #3 is

A
B
C
D
E
D
G
G

F
D

WTF kind of verse is this? Free form poetry is fine, but if you're going to use verse please give us SOME amount of consistency.

I think it should be:

Your not you in the line that reads:

"Your" compassion a rotting hole

Thanks for the comments. I'll pass them on to Chrystovarr.
Yeah, this is probably one of his strangest poems I've ever read.
