Korn
Bullet for my Valentine
System of a Down
Limp Bizkit (Sadly I have heard them be refered to as metal before...)
Slipknot
Papa Roach (Sadly them too)
Hatebreed
Linkin Park (and even them...)

Feel free to add to the list as long as you know what you're talking about.

Given that, I'll point out that Slipknot IS Metal, so is System technically. Limp Bizkit is Rap-metal and as such a type of metal. Hatebreed is modern hardcore.

If you had posted the rest of the lyrics you'd be able to see that it's about Lucifer.

Oh yes, because slayer singing the same cliche about satan seventy billion times is much more meaningful than coping with mental illness.

Shut up.

'Killers', my favourite Iron Maiden album, does not contain any mention of Lucifer.

Does this mean it is not a Metal album?

here, let me break it down into an easier way for you to understand.

Slipknot is to Metal, as My Chemical Romance is to Gothic Rock

They're emo, but before that label came out, they were technically gothic rock.

That label was around before they even formed.

No, Metal doesn't nessecarily have to mention Lucifer,

Hell, The nu Metal Bands sometimes use themes similar to the real metal bands, but they go about it all wrong, Please refer to the lyrics I posted earlier to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

My Chemical Romance were never Goth Rock.
Emo is a term from the '80s.
Slipknot are Metal regardless of whether you like it or not. I don't like Bullet For My Valentine or Trivium, but that doesn't mean I can just pretend that they're not Metal, that's something I don't like about Metal, it's incredibly divided and a lot of Metal fans tend to just go "Oh right, I don't like that band, so they're another kind of Metal".

First of all i think AC/DC themselves once said that they weren't "metal" simply hard rock. And as for GnR...i don't know what to say...if that's "metal" then i'm adding AssJack as a metal band.

Here's a test:
Sepultura - Troops of Doom (1987)
Guns and Roses - Welcome to the Jungle (1987)
AC/DC - Heatseeker (1988)
Metallica - Blackened (1988)

You mean to tell me that those four songs are in the exact same genre? That there is no difference in musical style here?

C'mon.

GNR is not hair metal, they got that stigma because of Axel's hair in Welcome to the Jungle video he was parodying what he saw in the LA hair metal scene.

Metal doesn't have set lyrics. For a fan of Metal you seem to be very adamantly opposed to any sort of progression within it.

Metal is a genre of rock music, not a social club. You can't exclude people because you don't like them.

My Chemical Romance formed in the 90s, Emo formed in the 80s. My Chemical Romance were never called Goth Rock, they were called Goth and described as gothic, something that will be used to refer to any band wearing all black and scaring yuppies. Do you know ANYTHING you're talking about?

I won't deny it, Slipknot is Metal, if only in a technical sense.

Maybe I worded myself wrong. They're not...what the word, True Metal?

No, they are hair metal, however they're the only Hair Metal band that isn't obscenely bad.

True metal implies there's something wholesome and pure about metal. There isn't. It's just a rock genre with a trillion spin-offs, not some sacred art lasting thousands of years.

For the record, bands opinions of themselves don't always matter that much. Deep Purple doesn't want to be called Metal or even Classic Rock. Gerard Way stated in an interview that "emo is a pile of shit", and that his band was never emo (which is actually incorrect, as the band's sound started out "Emo" and evolved into "Emo Pop").

Metallica was the worst of the big four, because their songs were toned down, scene kid friendly, rubbish.

Who knows Kreator?

Metallica were great for their first three albums, then it went to shit, by which point the Big Four, and Thrash in general, was over.

Kreator are good.
