Ahh....

*shrugs*

It's a waste of money.

Either use the classic method of shaving cream and shave or simple wax.

If you're referring to an empilator (alternative to a shaver), then I suggest don't buy one regardless what brand it isl. I've got one myself. It's hidden somewhere. I spent over $100 on it and it really wasn't worth it.

An empilator is supposedly meant o pull out every single hair from it's root similarly like how hair is removed from waxing. But, the weakness of an empilator is that it isn't successfull in achieving that as it doesn't pull out every single hair from it's root as it claims. The hair will tend to grow back inconsistently. At least with a classic cheap shaver and shaving cream, you're will be able shave all of your hair off on the same level, hence removing all of the hair (usually in one shave).

I still prefer waxing, as it is painless (if you're not a previous shaver) and prolongs the hair growing back as opposed to shaving.

I really dislike waxing, imensely infact. But partially because I am still a shaver. Accept my arms, I wax those, which isn't too bad.

The fact that you're a shaver, by switching to waxing it would be painful for you. The reason being is that when you shave, you only shave the hair on the surface, which the root still remains beneath the skin. The hair will then begin to grow thicker and darker as opposed to waxing. This makes waxing painful when if first have your legs (for instance) waxed after shaving for so long. Though, it may be painful the first, second or third time but don't let that turn you off.

Besides that, the only other reason that waxing would be painful if you are not waxing properly.

I find that when I wax, I get ingrown hairs that cause red bumps. That has turned me off waxing; is there any way I can stop that from happening?

If there is an area that where the sky is dry, has ingrown hairs or infected in some way, it's not a good idea to wax.

Is your skin dry? I've noticed on other people who have dry skin have the tendency to have ingrown hairs. This is one possible reason that you may have, as ingrown hairs can be caused by a build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin, which lacks moisture. So, I suggest you try exfoliating the skin, and avoid using harsh soaps that contain ingredients that will easily dry the skin out, and moisturise the skin regularly. Also, wearing skin tight pants doesn't help either.

If it's only a few ingrown hairs, then use a tweezer to pluck them out.

I've never really used body moisturizer before; I guess I could try that. Thanks again, r&r.

Not a problem. Did you try the lemon juice yet?

Yes, I did. I had to put a bit of sugar in it, but it was pretty good. I may drink some every few days, if only because I don't eat as much fruit as I should.

My mum thinks I'm crazy that I drink lemon juice that's so sour and sweetless.

I'm also a fan of fruit smoothes or juices...and it's good for the skin as well.

I like to make my own fruit smoothies. My favorite is blending just a bunch of frozen blueberries and some sugar, nothing else. I just wish there were more fruit in the house. The fruit that we do get doesn't last long at all, heh.

I don't mind sour things, but I can't have too much at once, or I start to feel sick. I think I could get used to it, though.

Home made smoothes/juices are the best.

I've yet to discover a fruit that I dislike.

Though, my favourites are the gorgeous berries family, banana, grapefruit, mango, avocodo, watermelon, pear and rockmelon.

I've never tried rockmelon.

I found that only a few fruits make good smoothies, as I like making them thick while using no milk. I love mango and avocado. Pomegranates are the most fun.

I never found a way to avoid ingrown hairs. I got them with just shaving, and waxing brought on even more.

rockandrose makes a good point about the dry skin/ingrown hair connection. My skin is very dry. Even daily exfoliation and moisturizer didn't help prevent ingrown hairs, though.

They were quite painful. Some even left marks that took two years to clear up.

I even had an ingrown eyelash once... how f***ed up is that?!

Yeah, I'm basically just looking forward to when I can get laser hair removal done. Then I wouldn't have to worry about any of that.

Laser is supposed to be permanent, though they're careful to call it "permanent hair reduction" (rather than "elimination") because the technology hasn't been around that long. But four plus years after finishing treatment on my bikini line, I have only two or three stray hairs that got missed. I've only had two treatments on my legs so far, and I already have big bald spots. Two or three more treatments, and I'll be able to throw away the razor.

Even if it lasted "only" five years, it would be totally worth it.

Pale skin and dark hair makes one the ideal candidate, but the newer lasers are quite successful at treating darker skin.
