Woman Finds 8 Foot Python in Washing Machine

http://news.**********/s/ap/20080717...ashing_machine

GORHAM, Maine - Mara Ranger will be a little paranoid doing laundry now. When she was removing clothes from the washing machine at her Maine farmhouse Wednesday, the clothes moved. She told WMTW-TV, "I jumped back" and saw a snake. She quickly shut the lid and called for help.

Maine Animal Damage Control operator Richard Burton reached into the machine and pulled and pulled — all 8 feet of a reticulated python.

Burton guesses the snake got into Ranger's washing machine through water pipes. The snake's future home will be York Animal Kingdom in York.

Ranger is going to start looking into every corner of her washing machine. She says, "I'm going to be looking in the tub first — before and after, maybe even during, the rinse cycle."

Eh that's than a common occurance better in some countries where you can be rushing to the bathroom, lift the toilet seat and find a snake staring up at you.

Hah hah! That's great! I'd prolly scream and slam the lid down too! XD

My aunt who lives in Florida says she's had crocs in her back yard before, and here in 'Bama...well, there's just as much wildlife as people, so yeah.

Snakes in living quarters are great.

When I lived in a rather remote part of Malaysia (at the age of 8) I was wandering into the garden from the kitchen when I suddenly came face to face with a king cobra which was coiled around the door handle, ready to spit in my face. I'll never forget looking straight into its eyes and thinking "Shit, this is it, I'm going to end up killed by a snake. Oh well, I had a good run I suppose". Then my survival instinct kicked in and I darted off screaming to my mother for help, and she then shooed it out with a broom. Good times.

Wow. Freaky. When my dad was stationed in Florida one of our neighbors found an octopus in her sink (just a baby), but how did a snake get in the washer? Those things are closed off. I mean, when we were stationed in Arizona our pet lizard (Garfunkel) used to sneak into the next door neighbor's air conditioner, which would send the poor little thing screaming into the yard. I think if Mrs. K. had found a snake in her washing machine, we would've had to give her CPR.

That put a rather entertaining picture in my head.

I'm trying to figure out how the snake got in the washer and I just can't figure it out, I mean a snake that size is much thicker than the hoses...I guess the lid could have been left open and it could have climbed in but then how did it get in here home to begin with (and you would think that she would have seen it if it got in before she started the load), it isn't like pythons live in the Maine wilderness

Eh. Just watch an hour of Animal Planet in the evening and you see this kind of shit all the time. Random assed animals in places they don't belong.
