Armwarmers out of fishnet stalkings
I bought some cool fishnet stalkings at a dollar store but, I don't know how to cut it properly. How do other goths do it?
I don't want to wreck it. The idea is to do it so it doesn't fall apart.
Any ideas?

FISHNETS AT A DOLLAR STORE?
Damn, boy, you should have bought a fuckload of them.
Don't even make arm warmers. Just cut a hole for your head in the crotch and holes at the feet for your arms. It's pretty simple.

I bought two of them at first. I wanted to bring them home and see if they
were made to last and what they were made of. I thought of getting seven pairs but I was afraid that they might be poorly constructed and would fall to pieces. I don't know what their made of, probably something synthetic.
But they seem sturdy enough.

As far as I'm concerned, fishnets are fishnets.
The only problem cheap ones have for me is the crotch falling apart, but since you're cutting a hole for your head there, it doesn't really matter.

Wait a moment... you DON'T want them falling apart?!
Ungoth. Undeathrock. UNCOOL.
Seriously though, fishnets do vary in their qualities. There are ones that are softer to the touch and rip like shit (which if you don't want them ripping is fine) and there are ones that are rougher, a little stringier in their construction, and shred beautifully - they also tend to get caught on anything and everything, aiding in the shredding process. The latter tend to be cheaper, which is a great 'yay' for anyone that way inclined.
And yeah, just cut a hole in the crotch and some holes for fingers. Done.
Oh and don't actually cut out a big hole for your head. Fishnets stretch like crazy so just a small slit should do. And if they start slipping off your shoulders safety pin the hole closed a bit more either in front or the back.

Each pair are two sock shaped things that run up the leg and stop ta the upper thigh. There is no crotch to cut out.

Falling apart is one thing, I meant unraveling at the end where I will cut it and causing a chain reaction that destroys the whole thing.
I intend to snip them in places later so they are more gothy.

Judging from that picture, don't even try to rip those stockings. They're not the shreddable kind. And don't worry, fishnets don't unravel. They're not woven like regular tights.
Since they're thigh-highs they're already too long to use on your arms. Your best bet of using them at all would be to cut them a bit shorter and sew them as sleeves onto a sleeveless shirt or something.
For future purchases look for knee-high fishnets if you want to use them as arm warmers.

I buy these stockings in a little plastic bubble at work called "bubble tights" for like 79 cents and I cut five holes in the feet for my fingers and then when I put them one I yank really hard and they get this cool runned spider web look. I do love fishnets too. Yeah, like thebloodeternity said, just cut a hole in the crotch and voila, you're done.

What I don't understand is how the hell fishnets would keep your arms warm in the first place. They're fulla holes!

Thigh highs? Yeah, you'll probably have to sew them into a shirt, unless you have some sort of handy shoulder garter belt.

Have you seen Cicero's?
EDIT: This thread reminds me I gotta get a bunch of fishnets for a couple of bucks each and put some holes in it. Claim it on Halloween if my brother/parents go too apeshit about it.

They're just very... shredded. To the point of getting tangled in them while putting them on.

He was talking to Cicero. I'd just have a go cutting them to the length of your arm if you want arm warmers. Even if it falls apart then you've only lost out on $1.

Aw, thanks. I put a ridiculous amount of thought into my style, so it's always nice when its appreciated
I'll try to find some good pictures of the fishnets.
