Hurricane Alex 6-30-2010

Hurricane Alex

Hurricane Alex is close to coming ashore at this hour.

Latest Hurricane Alex IR Satellite Image

It looks like the Hurricane is going to land in Mexico, and unless it shifts unexpectedly North at the last minute, Browsville and other parts of Texas look likely to be spared the Hurricane force and Gale force winds. Brownsville will get Tropical Storm force winds.

From The Weather Channel - Hurricane Alex Strengthens to a Category 2

Here is the local Houston live radar, where you can see the bands of rain we are getting from Alex's dirty side:

The good news is that we only expect a lot of rain over the next couple of days here. In this Live Galveston Cam feed you can see the camera shake from the winds.

It's amazing how big this thing is ... rainfall, winds and wave surge from Alex have shut down some oil cleanup efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi.

So this thing is about to slam into Mexico. Anyone know approximately where in Mexico Alan is located?

Alan, are you ready for this? I hope you're somewhere safe.

Here in Houston we've got rain in the forecast for the next 5 straight days ... and maybe more.

It's nothing to complain about compared to the lucky break of not having another Hurricane tear up the area, but I hate overcast skies.
